There’s some right fuckin charlatans in this game

My brother took his 5 year old focus for its MOT to Kwikfit, and he wanted the alignment and wheel balancing doing,

They contacted him and said MOT is ok, alignment has gone funny because the wheel bearings are shot. £470 inc labour

I said that doesn’t sound right to me, so told him to ask a different garage for much for new year’s wheel bearings £350 inc labour

So I ring around and landed on Bosch service at lostock motor works, he said we could do it for £120 inc labour, so he took it there

The chap rings him up a few hours later, there’s no problems with the wheel bearings they’re like brand new, he sent him a picture and he was right. They did alignment and wheel balancing for £40

I feel like reporting the cunts

Know a lad used to work at Kwik Fit.

He said similar - they were encouraged to target women in particular and the elderly and basically scare them into having work done at huge prices.

Mind you, there's a bloke in Horwich called Bloor Motor Workks (used to advertise himself as BMW Horwich until the Germans threated to gas him).

Took my bmw there to check a wheel bearing only to be told I'd need new brake discs and pads.

What he didn't realise was that I'd had that done 4 weeks previously. I rang the garage that did the work in front of him and he almost ripped the phone from my hand gabbling about making a mistake and he meant a different car.

There's a lot of cunts out there.

I’m handy enough around a car so I know when someone is trying it on, but my brother hasn’t a clue, if I hadn’t sent him a random text seeing how he was doing he would have paid it, and some cunt would have spent Friday night having a car jack removed from their colon

My missus says you need to warn her next time you’re going to do that

Will do, she might need her rear suspension checking

The missus had a MOT & service done at Chorley Nissan a couple of years ago. Needed front discs and pads costing £260. They warned the rears were 80% worn and to book in soon. Took it elsewhere for the MOT a year later and what do you know, nothing wrong with the rears. Just had a service and advised the rears are worn but plenty of life in them. 2 years of driving, 20k miles is not twatting 80% worn the cunts.

I use kwik fit for tyres and for mot’s in the past. Anything wrong then it goes to a local garage for repairs and back for re-tests. Absolute cowboys as your brother has found out.

Once had a service at the Vauxhall place on Manny Rd, they warned the tyres only had a couple of thou left on them. Took it back 6 months later for a MOT and passed. Did the fuckers grow tread?

It’s knackered mate.

Calving a couple of sprogs does that.

Bought a car from Bristol Street Motors. It came with two years free servicing. Parts only included what they call ‘consumables’ which amounts to lightbulbs, oil  and filters.

Last time I went they told me the cylinder head needed looking at and bushes on wish bone. A video was sent of the full inspection to show their work required.

I took it for MOT a week later to Gradwells in Harwood and mentioned both so he could have a look. Nothing up with either. He asked if They’d put oil in as part of the service. I showed him the video they’d sent and Gradwells reckon Bristol Street had diagnosed the issue with the cylinder head based on a line of oil dripping when they spilt a bit while filling.

Random tangent

Bout 25 years ago

Mate's dad pulled up at a garage in Bolton somewhere

Walked up to the guy stood at the open garage doors, handed him keys, said he'd be back later to pick up

Except the bloke didn't work at the garage, was just a random passer by

Found it few weeks later smashed up somewhere

Definitely report it. Kwik fit are utter c*nts. ATS are no better.  I had a run in with the cowboys on the A6 a while ago and regretted never reporting them to Trading Standards.

Backing Spider and Rudy up here with my shit tip on wheels...

Bloor - rinsed me for break pads, calipers and fluid. Pretty sure just the pad needed doing.

Lostock motor works - had engine warning light not long after it had been serviced... Decided to take it here for diagnostics. Said it was EGR valve, replaced it. Light came back on. Sent it back in, had a clean of a few connecting pipes without additional charge and its been right since.

Will be going back there for service and MOT now.

Thieving twats at Kwik Fit did exactly the same to my mum 2 years ago after my dad had died, £440 for a rear tyre , bearings etc.

The car was absolutely brand new and there was just a nail in it. When mum told me I went ballistic, rang them up and the cheeky bastards said they'd already destroyed the tyre within the hour. Aye, those twats probably had already fleeced some other mug punter and put it on another car.

Yeah I’ll be going there from now on, I’ll make sure I’ll recommend anyone who asks as well

^ This is nearly a decade old, but they're still at it. Wouldn't touch the robbing cunts with a barge pole.

Never done less miles in my car for years during lockdown, only thing going wrong was the battery what stuttered for lack of use, banged a few miles on the Motorway giving it a run, and was back to normal starting first time. Loads of folk I knew were buying brand new batteries.
