Everyone pulled their weight and the underrated Tutte was excellent. Thought Santos just shaded Tutte for motm but loved the way Tutte tided up in front of the back 4 especially late on took loads of pressure off . hughmungus
Let’s not get carried away, we scored one goal from the only clear cut chance created in 90 odd minutes, and the second was yet another gift. Think about that, one goal attempt in 90 mins !

marple whites
Well that was a surprise. every player put a great shift in and we all seemed to work so hard off the ball. santos was immense gilkes did really well, both in making saves and organising the defence - everyone seemed to have more confidence. does make a difference when we have a full team fit couldnt believe with 10 to go they continued to pass it round the edge of our box rather than get it in the mixer. big few games now, where we can certainly string a few wins together and start climbing the table. radcliffe white
I was disappointed with the lack of goal attempts however keep pressing and chances will come both goals came from us putting pressure on the defensive unit looked solid let’s hope gilkes has the fitness to continue sat/tues/sat will be demanding on him, throw Alexander in for the papa John cup
marple whites
I’d rest as many of them as I could on Tuesday - keep the main lads fit for the league.

Their other clear cut chance was straight after the restart when Santos headed the ball towards one of their players.

Site Supporter Biggish Dave Posted November 14, 2020 Site Supporter Share Posted November 14, 2020 Might only have had 1 decent chance on target but on another day, Sarce would have made it 3 or indeed given either of the strikers a gift, the one early on Sarce flashed across goal hits someone and goes in and that cross of Millers late on gets touched in so let’s not pretend we didn’t create anything. Gilks organisation of the defence was key to this, they could get on with defending. Santos and Delaney were quality but Baptiste was also much improved and didn’t get caught ball watching allowing players in behind him. Crawford did a hell of a lot of work hassling Salford but still needs to do more with the ball. The other 2 in midfield got about their job nicely. Jones had a steady game on the left, didn’t look out of place even though he always came back onto his right foot and even finished with an assist. Doyle’s face when he saw it going in! Overall, our most complete performance of the season for me - certainly at home. Long May it continue. COYWM
radcliffe white
Our defenders will be more comfortable knowing someone competent is behind them
Kane57
Really enjoyed it. Might have been the Buxton Axe Edge I was supping but I thought Sarcevic started slowly but by the end he was colossal. Crawford however, what a disappointment. You can chuck shit stats about assists wherever you like but he's had a very poor start to the season. Really hoping he can turn it around. Gilks though, what a great performance. Site Supporter superjohnmcginlay Posted November 14, 2020 Site Supporter Share Posted November 14, 2020 We will get chances at this level with the press that we play, it will happen. Thought we were patient enough last night. Pressed well kept a shape and more often than not we held possession well. We reduced them to long range efforts. There was a period second half around the hour mark, where they had an attack. Our shape was perfect they went from one side of the pitch to the other along the 18 yard line without making any threatening passes or runs they couldn’t get through. They couldn’t even get the cross in. It’s the first time we’ve looked composed at the back, and that has to be down to Gilks.
Ros Coe
For the first time this season we looked well organised as a team and defensively solid. None of the calamitous panic stations that we’ve come to expect. Was that solely down to the keeper change? I think it made a massive difference but Santos was immense. We’ll do well to keep hold of him in January..

For long spells we got stuck in our own half with no idea how to get out

paulhanley
With Stevenage, Scunthorpe and Southend next up we have a chance to make some inroads now. I hope we can get to New Year with more wins than losses and press on from there. You only have to finish seventh for the play offs. That's me being hopeful after one good result. Members DazBob
Well, that was splendid. We got the early chance and took it, and took it very well too. After that, apart from the error at the start of the second half we never looked like conceding. By an absolute mile thats been the most organised we've looked at the back. It really can't be underestimated how much of that is down to having an experienced keeper behind them all telling them where they should be. Add to that Tutte in front of them doing the dirty work and keeping things simple, but also retaining possession of the ball. Stats say Salford make more chances/have more shots than any other team in this divison, so I imagine he thought they could just turn up, play their usual game and it would be an easy victory. Boy oh boy, how wrong he was ... and how pissed off did he seem to be about it. Fucking brilliant.
masi 51
Salford were a carbon copy at where we was three four weeks back...Playing it from the back, a defence that did not look comfortable . A midfield who though had plenty of the ball devoid of anything creative, A decent forward in Henderson that dropped too deep and is clearly frustrated with not getting any decent service. Site Supporter RONNIE PHILLIPS Posted November 14, 2020 Site Supporter Share Posted November 14, 2020 We looked a solid unit last night, kept our shape defensively & pressed very well. Another big plus in my book was because Gilks is no sweeper/keeper we did away with fannying about in our own 6 yard box at goalkicks... Its a ludicrous tactic at this level & is a big part in why we have previously looked so shaky, get it wrong & you end up in deep shit & it breeds uncertainty.
