If he were played further forward, he would have to be proactive to any midfield threat and try to snuff it out quickly. He just doesn't have that ability. His passing is good for a centre back, but not nearly quick enough to play in a defensive midfield role under pressure from the opposition, where he would have to be quick enough to pass to a white shirt in tight situations. I don't mean any offence, but it's a non-starter for me. Agree , he has the turning circle of an ocean liner.The ball has to be in front of him or at worst in the channel next to him so he can use his strength to either win the header or lever the attacker off the ball .At L2 level that works most of the time.
