All huff and bluster from Putin?

Or should we be worried?

File under everything else he's minced on about for the last year.

Although NATO amassing forces and increasing membership all around its Western borders does make it easier for him to claim that NATO is amassing forces and increasing membership all around its Western borders 😃

Chinese diplomat dude over in Russia today.

They are going to start supplying arms arent they? :(

Hopefully not as It would lead to the world economy completely crashing and an escalation of the conflict. I’m not sure what they would gain from that but who knows?

I'm not so sure, particularly so with heavy duty/expensive stuff.

As one commentator mentioned this morning, China may have been sabre rattling over Taiwan more since the war started and being opportunistic as America is distracted to a degree with Russia, however if they now embroiled themselves in the Ukraine conflict, then they too become distracted from their own ambitions in the south China Sea.

A very complex situation, which was conveyed in the latest episode of "Warship" on the bbc, which has followed the Queen Elizabeth on its deployment to the area.

A fascinating series.

Feel like China is trying to become a global kingpin so patting Russia on the head keeping a decent relationship with them going can only be beneficial to them. I do highly doubt they'd provide top of the range stuff anyway even if they did go down that route though.

Used to be the other way round, for example Russia would sell them jets with downgraded engines and capabilities, China has replicated and bettered these over time with their own indigenous kit and now outstrips what Russia has. They're a serious threat.

We're currently facing a number of foes who are a step up from what we're used to. Only reading this week about Iran advancing it's nuclear capability and the need for a pre-emptive strike. Ffs at least wait until end of the season please.

Xi has proposed a "peace plan" and urged the end of the war. Unfortunately it includes Russia retaining the Donbas and Crimea which has gone down like a turd in a punchbowl in Ukraine. Nonetheless Zelensky has requested a meeting with the Chinese to discuss their plan. Unsurprisingly, there has been no response to his request as yet.
