The disappointing thing about yesterday was how badly organised Bolton were defensively after taking the lead on 83 mins. This isn't the well drilled Allardyce 2000/01 promotion team.I think Mr Evatt must improve if that's how they go about defending  a lead in big matches

We've conceded 1 goal in 5 games , are you for real ?

We shipped in 6 at home to Port Vale, we got hammered 4-0 at Orient. Please don't only choose the nice results

This just shows what a prick you are.

'must improve defending' you say someone points out we have conceded 1 in last 5, and that was a great shot.

You then give examples of what we were like earlier in the season, pretty much a perfect example of how we have improved.

Anyway let's see how your lot defend against City today.

Why im bothering, i dunno, but twice that season we blew 3 1 leads in the last 5

We also got done 4 at stockport

Ironically on the day of the Stockport game I was watching Bradford, I think at home to Ipswich.

Away from home that season

West Brom, Preston, Grimsby, Tranmere,  Norwich, Wimbledon, Burnley, Sheff Wed, Nottm Forest, Palace, Barnsley, Wolves

Went 1-0 up and won them all keeping a clean sheet

That's 12 out of 23 away games  won with clean sheets.

He was a genius, he wouldn't be drawing at Bradford with that team

I don’t agree with your point, however I think it would be a worthwhile exercise to sit down with the squad and a brew to watch the last ten minutes or so after we scored .

There were plenty of opportunities to play for more time, IE could prob highlight half a dozen examples of what could/should have been done to run down the clock.

I noticed Gilks managed to waste about 30 seconds at one point, maybe some learning to be done?
It may come in handy next time we need to close a game down.

I think it was a combination of the changes which were made after we had taken the lead , which for me were unnecessary seeing as we took the lead late on , by all means Swallow time up with subs in injury time but for me when you take the lead late on go with what you've got.

I said at the time about subs. He was in such a tough position. You need to bring on some for a bit of energy, but don't want to negatively impact the momentum.

We needed to keep playing if anything. Dropping in is asking for trouble. Maybe Tutte on to make a midfield 3 with Lee and MJ would have helped us keep the ball. But I think it was more about sitting deep than the changes.

I think it was more about them having little to lose, going 8 up front, getting a bit of luck the ball finding its way to rowe and a finish that you wouldnt normally see in div 4

That about sums it up. Anyone else notice none of their players rushed to pick the ball from our next and rushing to kick off again. They were happy to get a point before the game, during the game and after the game.

He was unmarked though because we lost our shape with the last substitutions. Dapo should have been replaced with Tutte or Thomason and we win the game - no need to take Isgrove off and their man wouldn’t have been free at the back post

How come every 6th / 7th user profile image has naked women in your website?

Either your Bolton girls are ugly or it's an improvement on your club logo

Fucking pot kettle, when I worked overseas the Leeds Bradford flight landed, it was like checking in the walking dead.

Thats some amazing foresight you’ve got!

I watched the goal back, did not realise at the time Dapo actually chases the ball down quickly and it is just a lump into the box.
The strike is top drawer, 99/100 in this league it is back of the stands rather than back of the net.
The only lesson IE needs to get over is if that strike was at 2-0 it would be forgotten by now, killing a game off when on top is key.
Bounce back midweek with a win.

And Sarcevic should have been on the pitch. He’s an organiser and got good game management.

We can’t keep relying on trying to defend a 1 goal lead as anything can happen.

we need to be killing these games off earlier.

cheltenham and Exeter had both killed there games off yesterday by halftime (albeit probably lesser opponents), but none the less we haven’t really done that all season.

It was a disappointing goal to concede, couple of chances to clear after the initial free kick (which wasn't very good) then a couple more from the corner. They'd properly gone for it by then though, every striker they have on the pitch, keeper up, the works. Chucked it in the mixer and it paid off for them, fair enough.

Wouldn't have played out as a situation if we'd been two up, more the issue for me, not making enough of all the possession and approach play

At similar stage to the season in 2001, this was a set of results from that season. I remember those Blackburn games we looked anything but a defensively well organised team.

07/03/2001 Blackburn Rovers 3-0 Bolton Wanderers     20,318 Loss
D1 04/03/2001 Fulham 1-1 Bolton Wanderers Frandsen   16,468 Draw
D1 23/02/2001 Bolton Wanderers 1-4 Blackburn Rovers Ricketts   20,017 Loss
D1 20/02/2001

Bolton Wanderers

2-2 Grimsby Town
