Gofundme etc : Crowdfunding or begging?

Recommended Posts

Does seem to be a lot of people asking for money to help to pay their vet bills after being in the Domincan Republic a fortnight before and that kind of carry on.

Makes everybody more cynical to giving to those really in need but it probably was ever thus.

Anyone found to be doing it fraudulently should be first against the wall when the revolution comes.

Seeing this more and more, especially on social media.

Does nobody just pay for stuff anymore?

Really gets my goat up this.  If you can’t afford vets insurance don’t get a dog because some folk won’t if money’s tight.

We run a crowdfunding platform but for organisations, not individual projects.

Crowdfunding to be sucessful is also transactional, so the rewards for donors are just as important.

Nail your £50 and £150 rewards and you'll should have a more succesful campaign.

Definitely getting worse. The one that gets me is when all of these things start at £100 then when target hits it jumps and then jumps again.

We did a charity one when my mum died as we couldn't have a proper funeral / wake and it went to a cause which my mum supporter. Had to stop the Target being increased when the original one was met. sadly it can get out of hand.
