Why can't the college presidents unequivocally state calls for the genocide of Jews is against their code of conduct?

They should 👍

And from what they've said, it sounds like they now would if somebody advocated genocide. They needed a wake up call and too much has been left to slip. I'm not defending their inaction.

The context is incredibly important though and that is the point of the discussion today. There's more detail about the interviews in here. Top university presidents plead 'free speech' over campus antisemitism (nypost.com)

You've currently a child dying every 10 minutes in Gaza. If a Palestinian protestor on a US campus calls for an armed intifada, is that any different to people saying Israel has a right to defend itself? Yes that might be incredibly unsettling for a Jewish student, but it works both ways. There have been some horrific comments on these campuses that need addressing, but context is important, so staff can differentiate and make the right decisions when it comes to consequences.

The questioning began in the context of calls for an intifada but then the presidents were asked specially about a call for genocide against Jews - not intifada against Isreal, a genocide against Jews - and they couldn't unequivocally state it was against their code of conduct

And anyone paying any attention to the state of affairs on US campuses in the course of the last decade knows a commitment to free speech and freedom of expression has been somewhat lacking, so why are they so keen to defend that value now?

I also note that today's efforts to improve the live of people in Gaza includes bus drivers in Stamford Hill refusing to stop for Jewish - not Isreali, not "Zionist" - students

And at the encouragement of the passengers no less

Just brush it under the carpet.

They're all far left socialists. Every single one of them and all they teach is Animal Farm in English, the Red Flag in Music, how Russia is the world leader of nuclear power in Science, Maths based on the original Caliphate teaching from the Ottoman Empire and as for Religious Studies they actually tattoo the Palenstinian Flag to every child's bottom.

Warping the fertile minds of the children. The evil fuckers.

Thank you for your thoughts and hard thinking 😊

I once had mushy peas on toast.

I like mushy peas, I like toast so thought why not?

Thought it would be like beans on toast, but better.

Was very disappointing if I’m honest.

You have to worry about someone pairing peas n toast, when you can make a nice rissoto with peas bit of garlic and stock and onion for fuck all.

Time dear boy. I’m a busy man. Peas on toast takes 5 mins tops. And I only did it once.

A proper risotto (of which I’m fond) takes time and effort.

Not just there.

Not just this issue neither.

Like Scargill on 'roids, though he'd no doubt be in trouble for not having enough trans miners down the pit.

Forgot to mention, Nigella has a pea, pancetta and orzo recipe that  I do quite a lot.

It’s risotto-ish but with miles quicker and without the constant stirring. Give it a whirl

No problem if they are Hamas, but the IDF are unable to confirm that

Maybe, you’d expect a Western ally not to do this to prisoners though. Especially before a trial.

One was a respected journalist.

Hearing the stories from these Palestinian kids that were released during the hostage exchange is pretty grim as well.

We’re just trying to eliminate Hamas and protect our citizens”  isn’t an argument many can believe anymore.

hey, Israel must be allowed to defend themselves

Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari said Israeli troops have detained and interrogated hundreds of people in Gaza suspected of militant links.

thing is, I think they will regard any palestinian of having militant links, seems that way so far

and it also seems their western allies are starting to lose their patience with this approach

As we stand here almost a week into this campaign into the south, it remains imperative that Israel put a premium on civilian protection,' Blinken said after meeting British Foreign Secretary David Cameron in Washington.

'And there does remain a gap between... the intent to protect civilians and the actual results that we're seeing on the ground.'

Aye

It’s harder and harder for the US to defend them. Strong words from Blinken.

So Earth Father is upset about a few (likely) terrorists being paraded in their grundies.

FFS, no significant comment (other than a regulation 'Hamas are cunts') from him or the other latent supporters about breasts being sliced off, women being shot through the head at the vinegar stroke whilst being raped, babies being cut out of wombs and beheaded in front of the mother before she is beheaded...............

No, let's trumpet about a Western ally humiliating a few enemy 'soldiers' by exposing their underwear. FFS he must have some good ganja. Probably hydroponic produce.
