Went to Eilat about 20 years ago which I enjoyed, did coach trip, Dead Sea- Bethlehem, Jerusalem and did the full tour on foot, one weird place, wailing wall, Bethlehem church was scary, was on high alert, the walk through Jerusalem through the back streets was also bit scary to some weird religious freaks of all denominations, then flew back from tel aviv, was great trip but was glad to get back to Eilat that night, was like a day trip to the old den, high alert all day. 😂

One of my colleagues goes to Tel Aviv quote a lot with work, as we have a decent customer out there. He reckons, when the bombs aren't flying and car bombs aren't going off it's a tremendous place 🙂

I'd quite like to go, and would like to go to Jerusalem, but I'm not sure I ever will, as it's just too bloody volatile

Supposed to be a beautiful place Tel Aviv.

Doesn't help when you've got hawks running the Israeli administration and terrorists running the Palestinian.

@Rudy

Religion innit.

Imagine a game of musical chairs. There's 1 chair left, and you have Hershi, Mohammed and John all circling menacingly as they are convinced the chair is theirs. But the music never stops, and now and again one of them will pretend to sit down and the others will throw stones/rockets at them.

Judaism, Christianity and Islam all claim this dusty, ramshackle square kilometre of rocks in Jerusalem as the focal point for their faith.

It's more a case of it being USA vs Iran. Israel have powerful backing from the yanks, Palestine have Iran and various other Arab nations protecting them

All as bad as each other and it would be better for the world as a whole if the entire area fell into a massive sinkhole and they set their shrines up elsewhere.

Israel is a wonderful place to visit. A Jew and an Arab get on fine. It's when more than one gets involved that it gets fractious.

This starts happening the same day as Israel gets the thumbs up from the world to say it's safe to go there. Coincidence ?

I've been loads of times including Jerusalem and never been near any trouble.

I try to go early July, the hottest time to go, because it's too hot for some of the residents. I could have booked my flights (with Easyjet) a couple of weeks ago for £154 return. As soon as they got the green light it went up to over £350ish. Price is  up and down like the proverbial. It wouldn't put me off, but I go to Caesarea where it's quiet anyway.

It doesn't help that Bibi seems to be investigating himself.

Edit. Bibi stood on my foot in the lobby of the Hilton Hotel in TA as I was waiting to go out, and he and loads of advisers came in during a thunderstorm.

I said something like, 'oi watch it', not knowing for a second who it was. He sent a bloke back and I though oh shit, that's fucked it.

The bloke apologised for crushing my loafers.

Yes you can. Most towns have few pubs and restaurants, but if you landed in a spaceship in Tel Aviv you wouldn't know you weren't in Spain. Plenty of bars.

Even Jerusalem has bars, mostly top end dearer establishments. There's not a 'Red Lion or a Scotchmans Arms' though, not like in Beni.

I wouldn't recommend the spaceship bit, the way things are at the moment.

Has it got a BWFC bar though?

Is it a coincidence that the Palestinian's have kicked off big time with Iranian backing ‎now Trump is out of Office?

Think it has more to do with kicking loads of Palestinian folk out of their homes again. Plus storming that mosque was a bit rum.

If you know where to go you can even get a sausage sarnie.

A lot of the younger ones identify as Israeli rather than Jewish. So kosherness is less of an issue.

When our Loft first went he put his dinner plate and stuff in the wrong dishwasher and the Kibbutz had to re-kosher the whole Kibbutz dining room.

Boom 🤣

BWFC friendly bar it is though; FV bought it and got Remi Moses in to do it up as a football pub.  It now has "Shalom Britain" over the front door to welcome us in.
