Exactly. China looks after itself.

Iirc, there was a recent "meeting" between Putin and another of his "allies" in the North Korean leader. They wouldn't go near each other, and the body language was terrible.

Total lack of trust between dictators, that wouldn't end well if push came to shove. A fine historical example in Stalin/Hitler.

No photo of Hitler or Molotov but Stalin and Ribbentrop.

The Molotov - Ribbentrop pact that, as you say, didn’t end well.

Says the bloke who thinks more bombing of innocent people by Israel is a solution.

Your opinion was that China would join Russia against USA and the west so I just pointed out why I thought you were wrong… you had the opportunity to qualify your opinion, you did not take that opportunity and then resorted to personal abuse.

If you have an opinion it’s better to have a rationale behind that opinion before you enter into a debate.

I’ve never condoned bombing innocent folk.

It helps to get your facts right and ducks in a row before you make yourself look a silly Billy.

Russia is like a third world country compared to China. Economically and militarily, Russia is in a state of rapid decline. They do have a lot of nuclear weapons though. It’s the only thing that keeps them relevant as a major power.

They have declined massively since the fall of the soviet union. That's why they can't have former soviet countries doing so well outside. Poland is their big gripe but too late.

Putin sees Ukraine as Russia more so than any other former bloc so went for it. He just underestimated the response.

We could and probably should wipe out russian forces in Ukraine but while he is still in charge of the big red button we won't.

Yep. Those nuclear weapons do make all the difference . There is no doubt that with the correct suppprt, Ukraine could push the Russians all the way back to Moscow. A cornered rat is at its most dangerous though.
Over 300,000 Russians sacrificed for his egotistical folley. He’s quite happy to sacrifice more.

Might require some effort but could be interesting. Could a mod do a "who do you intend to vote for poll" no comment, all referred back to this thread.

Poll resets each month until we get a general election.

Keep one eye on Venezuela and Guyana by the way. That's one false move from erupting too......

Venezuela has been a basket case since Hugo Chavez took over in 1999. It seems that Maduro is even worse. Corbyn's heroes - extreme lefties sitting on billions of potential dollars of oil revenues since the 90's but, with Khmer Rouge like zeal, creating communes and massive loss making nationalised industries rather than do anything like trading with the 'imperialists' and then being able to feed it's people and give them jobs, careers and futures.

One of the best examples of the disaster of socialism on the planet. Venezuelans have got out in droves. Many find their way to the US border. The economic magnet of attraction to free market economy over the repulsion of communism.

The population is tiny. And the area where the oil is is largely uninhabited.

Venezuela reckon they have a historical right to the territory and have been building up tanks and troops near points of strategic importance.

Bloody socialists!

Precisely. Chavez and Maduro have royally fucked Venezuela.

And whose side would China be on?

Neither. Smart enough to sit back, let it all unfold and then move in to finish off the war weakened victors.

Good luck with that one. There won’t be a world war over Israel attacking Palestine… and China wont be cosying up with Putin in any event. They ain’t stupid.

Correct. There's some proper numb fuckers about.

I’m the thick one and you think China gonna join Russia and go to war with USA over Israel’s treatment of Palestine. 👍

Be reet

The fault had something to do with it being a test-firing, with a source saying that the launch would have been successful had it been carried out for real with a nuclear warhead.
