Is it kicking off big time or is this just everyday stuff they deal with or a bit of both?

So I ask again.

What did Hamas think would happen when they attacked?

Surely they expected this level of attack back?

I suspect they thought they would take hostages to negotiate with expecting Israel to fold, perhaps even initiate an uprising of forces in neighbouring countries, rise up against the West at the behest of their Russian sponsors to divert resources away from Ukraine or simply just go to heaven as martyrs?

Whatever they were thinking, they clearly didn't give a flying f*** about the Palestinian people.

Their aim is very likely to spark a full-scale war, on a number of fronts, against Israel, with a view to wiping the country of the map

I'd expect the idea is to goad Israel into an invasion of Gaza and then Hamas/Hezbollah could launch an attack simultaneously from Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon

Great question

My guess is that they know/think that Iran has enough to beat Israel. The big question there is whether Iran has nuclear weapons.

Well Im glad we are team USA if that's the case.

Regarding the willingness to negotiate, this is the offer Arafat turned down in 1994

And I’ll tell you again Hamas don’t care about any people

So what do you want Israel to do?

Just get attacked without retaliation by the sounds of it.

The same as we do when we are attacked by Terrorists. Or would you rather we just go baling in killing innocent families?

“We” did kill innocent families.

how successful are they going to be eliminating Hamas and who will be left at the end to celebrate the new safe region they have created?

Yep, another disaster in this whole sorry tale. Just like Rabin being assassinated not long after that.

Yes so maybe you should realise it’s a bad idea

Funny, I thought this only started three weeks ago.

You’ve just said we should do the same thing. Make your mind up.

So a deal that gave the Israelis 8% of their military gains in the West Bank, allowed the Israelis to retain their weapons whilst the Palestinians had to hand their's over, financial compensation for but no return of the Palestinian land the Israelis stole earlier and Palestinian sovereignty over the bits of Jerusalem that they'd always had sovereignty over?

Sounds a bit like "we're nicking your living room and kicking you out, but here's a few quid in compensation."

Arafat deserved his Nobel Peace Prize for just having to listen to that shit - but he did sign the Oslo Accords and at least he wasn't assassinated by his own people for trying to make peace - unlike Yitzhak Rabin.

With respect to terrorist attacks in London in 2005, for example. Or IRA attacks. I don’t remember us carpet bombing areas after those. We kept within International law. That is what Israel should do.

We killed many innocents around the Middle East after London and in NI. It makes no difference if they were “carpet bombed” or shot from a soldiers rifle they still ended up in a body bag.

Maybe you saying they should do what we did is not the best of ideas.

If folk think ordinary Gazans can overthrow their Hamas 'government' they are on drugs. They are a set of evil cunts who assassinated their Fatah opposition and anyone against them.

They should welcome Israel with open arms when they march into Gaza… but they won’t will they.

I don't have the knowledge on the whole thing other than trying my best to make sense of it all through articles past and present.

From reading, things were so very close to a form of solution back then, yet so far, seems a light year away now.

That is the most stupid thing I have read on the whole conflict. Fucking hell Mounts.

Whatever. My position should be fairly clear even for you to understand.

We absolutely did not

Yes you made it perfectly clear. “They should do what we did”. We aided in killing 1000s of innocents. You can try and twist it all you like but they’re facts. Which brings me back to my earlier post, innocents will unfortunately always get caught up in wars, conflicts whatever you want to call them,
