In that case taking 7/9 points and conceding no goals is pretty impressive for a team that’s not hit its heights. And I’m sure there wouldn’t have been many who would have moaned about getting that at the start. Let’s be honest there was fuck all to play for tonight as a team. Both teams already qualified, no insentive for winning the group. Make sure players don’t get injured and rest those on yellows. Job done. When Greece won the Euros in ‘04 they were the most boring team in the competition and didn’t win a game by more than a single goal and not forgetting Portugal, who won the last Euro’s without winning a group game. Gung - ho teams very rarely win major tournaments. I’d love us to smash everyone 5-0, but winning ugly can and does win tournaments.
