GB News

Has anybody watched any of it? I've tried it a few times. Currently watching something called Dewbs and Co and it's absolutely dreadful.

Anybody seen anything good on it?

GB News is the country & western of the News world.

Simple lyrics, formulaic and predictable tunes, same themes.

If a c&w singer wants to write a song about being lonely and heartbroken, the chances are the opening line will be “I’m lonely and heartbroken”

Doesnt require too much from the old grey matter. Undemanding but delivers its point.

I'm not having that, some of the most beautiful music and lyrics around contained within country and western.

Get your listening chops round these beauties.

No

It’ll be shit. Dull, tedious, derivative redneck drivel.

It’s like reggae. 97% of reggae songs start with a little drum roll on a snare drum with the snares unattached.

At least Bob Dylan’s lyrics are sharp even if the music isn’t.

I cannot understand why folk watch such badly produced drivel.

They have a 'priest' on from some church with less members than a run down conny club. Some tit from NZ who thinks he is more British than anyone from Britain if they don't agree with him. A Scottish bloke who has gone full conspiracy tin foil hat mental. Billy Pipers ex who seems to be having some sort of mid-life crisis. Farage, nuff said. A load of Tory client journalists and to top it off Rees-Mogg.

And I have never actually tuned in on my telly to know that, they just keep popping up on social media for ridicule at the ludicrous things that they keep saying.

WHAT? Toots and the Maytals rubbish? Aww man, too much Iron Maiden has dulled the senses.

John Prine - one of the best lyricists around, start there or maybe Calexico or Isobel Cambell and Mark Lanagans or first aid kits albums as a more contemporary entry point.

Gillian Welch - heartbreaking music or maybe a bit of Lori Mckenna....https://open.spotify.com/track/7s5oiz0hI98X6FQ5cmvPlf?si=chOT0oWsR4-WvfR9zJCf3w

I can't take to country music but to be honest I have never really heard much of it or been bothered to show interest in it.

When The Gentlemen came out I liked the opening track so looked for other stuff but was left disappointed.

Give my little playlist a whirl, you might surprise yourself. There's so many different types, just like folk or jazz - it's not just one type and not everyone likes the same thing. I hate country pop, but the more rustic, older Americana stuff is just mindblowing.

I’d expect that those taking sides against GB News have hardly watched it.

Of course not. It's just the usual ill informed and (in their mind) virtue signalling frenzy which they feel needs to be displayed to the woke leadership they blindly follow without burning a single calorie of brain power.

There's some loons on GBN, I accept. For example, that Laurence Fox bloke. Plenty of excellent and reasonable presenters on there but this lot you were responding to will simply try to shout that down with a tidal wave of sarcasm, ageism and ridicule. It is the way these days. Shout loudly to drown them out and hope they go away. A tactic perfected by left wing militant females which has been picked up as a security blanket by folk frightened by their profound and natural tribal instincts.

Hopefully more and more people will get on board with GBN and support the one station that truly gives air time to ALL sides of the story and not simply the left leaning, social democracy tinged, so called  'unbiased' drivel being drip fed to rabbits caught in the headlights by the likes of the BBC and ITV.

Asking for a link to show that old racists watch GB news is like asking for a link to prove the Earth is round.

Some things don't need a link.

Here we go again. You are hypocrite no. 1 on here. You are against every 'ism' but one eh?

I've watched it. In fact I've accidentally had it on in the background all day. And it's awful. They did a live outside broadcast from some town that apparently had the most Brexit votes as a percentage in the UK.

The reporter kept telling us that the town centre from which he was reporting is known by the locals as 'foreign square'.

It's absolutely dreadful, and even makes me look wistfully at ITV News.

In that case I feel for you. You are a reasonable man in my experience but the highlighted bit means that you have been dragged to a point which is close to the bottom.

You were the one 'lefty' on here that I have always believed gave fair and reasonable consideration to all sides of a debate but on this one you seem to be running with the sheep.
