Why give the cunts exactly what they want?

They want a rival, well they've got two already, Widnes and Warrington...

I wouldn't give them steam off my shite, let alone a rivalry.

They can stick a JJB shirt on Sir Nat's statue, pose on the town hall steps having 'took' Bolton - whilst everyone who'd have knocked fuck out of them being eight miles away...

They're a joke.

You're obviously as pissed off as me.

Only because they see every time they get one over us as a feather in their cap...

We've struggled to put an XI out sometimes recently, look how many of our rejects they've had/got...

I thought Blind Ben had dropped out of the game tbh, as his Mr. Magoo glasses kept falling off during games...

Total non-entitities and hopefully back where they belong sooner rather than later.

second half they were better than us , we didn't create anything until the last 10 mins, the problem was in the first half the ref should have sent one of theirs off , five yellows ,and they carried on fouling.

we need to be more direct.

no lost sleep over this result.

Thought we controlled the game first half but didn't really create anything. They must've brought Dapo down ten times.

Second half we weren't as good apart from in a couple spells.

Terrible penalty by Delfonso. But predictable given his performance.

Anyway.. not that arsed to be honest. A win at the weekend is more important.

Come On You Whites!!!

I'm all for people sticking up for players when there's an overreaction to a poor performance and a lot of people, mainly on social media have gone in way too hard on Delfouneso, which I don't condone.

However, aside from the penalty miss which is obviously a catalyst for the abuse - he really is not cutting it anymore, it's been apparent for a while and I'm surprised he's still at the club.

Maybe it's just a dip in form, all players have bad patches but his decline from once being a PL footballer to now...

..in what many would consider his prime years and couldn't even make our first XI in League 2, it just doesn't look good for him.

He'll see out his contract here no doubt but judging purely from his performances and body language it looks like his love of the game is gone. Maybe I'm reading into it too much but he's finished in my eyes.

Yep, that sums him up pretty well imo.

If a player doesn’t actually love the game, it must be hard to slide down the divisions after spending some time dining at the top table.

As long as Delfouneso wears a white shirt then he’s got my support. However, his penalty was pretty indicative of 75% of his games for us in that it was just lazy and half-arsed. Still, it’s not something that costs us very often and as long as he’s still a match winner for the other 25% of games then he’ll do for me.

In hindsight, 8 changes was probably too many, but you’d think the 8 of them would be busting a gut to impress and yet so many of them looked wholly uncomfortable all night. Even Sheehan didn’t seem to get in to the game and Gordon wasn’t a patch on his performance at Lincoln. Certainly looked much the better side for the introduction of Doyle, Sarcevic and Jones, while I think tonight probably showed that Kachunga is better served out wide.

So him being shit for 75% of games is good enough for you?

He doesn’t deserve a shirt if he only performs in 25% of the time - in fact, he’s more of a passenger.

We need lads who give 100% every game - they might not always be at their best, but if they are at least showing full commitment & effort they’ll get my backing.

Delf just doesn’t fall into that bracket imo.

At least somebody has some class

Fwiw, I dont think he looked shit tonight

And don't forget, to anybody calling him lazy, youre actually calling into question his selection by Evatt

Do you really think if he thought he wasn't trying he would get a game...fuck me

What tonight showed, is what most of us know

MJ is irreplaceable and Kachunga is no Doyle

Sarcevic also a massive loss

We only had our 4th choice right sided player available

Brockbank is a great option on the bench but not a patch on Jones

Gordon is an able deputy for Jones

Gilkes takes so much out of our game as he's awful with the ball

Dapo was streets ahead of everybody else first half and they just resorted to kicking him

Our fans who want us to stop passing it about clearly haven't watched us play recently

Anyway, over it by the time I was back in the car

Thought Delf was anonymous till that miss

Jones attacked more down the right in his 20 mins than Delf all game

Was over it by the time I got back to the car too but that's because it took a fucking hour when it should've been 15 mins

I suspect he won't be here much longer, but for me he wasnt stand out shit, stand out lazy

He was actually involved in 2 stand out moments

He did their left back first half and was dropped on his way into the box

Second half, hes clattered from behind by what I'm sure was the same bloke

Clear yellow, but no card

Hmmm, seems a bit like people on here don't like it when everyone's not being happy clappers.

I thought overall we were second best tonight. Despite what Evatt says, Wigan had the better/most chances. The Irish bloke looked dangerous all the time and in the second half we created very little until Jones came on.

It's only when our two first choice full bakcs don't play that you realise how much they contribute to the attacking side of the game.

Brockbank & Gordon worked hard, but didn't play particularly well, Thomason looked like he struggled, but he was playing division 12 football a year and Delfouneso was just Delfouneso. He's got the quality and ability, but I'm sure he's got the hunger/desire a much.

I don’t think Delf played too badly, his performance gets magnified because he misses that one, he’s certainly nothing to apologise for. That’s football.

Our strongest XI will do something in this league this season, our depth is ok It could be better but so could everyone else’s.

IE will already know he needs a bit of cover for MJ, possibly a RB and definitely a forward.

Moves will start to be made towards the run up of the window closing. I suspect he already has people who he wants but it looks like we need to make a couple of cuts and wait for the market to move.

Let’s go and get a result on Saturday

It is not about 'happy clappers' it is about saying players should be fucked off out of the club for missing in a penalty shoot out.

Funny how derby matches stir up fans like no other and we've had the debate on here many times about how we rank our local rivalries.

I still don't feel like we lost last night. It was a 0-0 draw. If Wigan want to crow about a penalty win let the get on with it.

A derby v Wigan certainly used to feel like it will be this year v Fleetwood and Morecambe etc. Its more than that now after 40 or 50 league and cup games. But it still isn't as important as a game v Blackburn, Burnley, PNE, Blackpool in my mind. If you are in Wigan reading this then (A) congratulations on being one of the few people in your town who can read and (B) we will always look down on you.

On we go to Cambridge and we refocus on our below the salt neighbours in October. If we reach Saturday night looking back at the August league campaign with a big zero in the defeats column I'll be highly satisfied with our progress.

If he manages to come up with a moment of match winning quality as he did a few times last season (FGR springs to mind) then yeah I’m happy to let it slide tbh. But it does need the right mix of players around him to be able to make up for that. Don’t think we’ll be seeing him for much longer anyway if anyone shows any interest.

Is that your roundabout way of saying you'd be happy with a draw on Saturday? :D
