Johnnyrotten Posted August 28, 2021 Share Posted August 28, 2021 Not watched the 2 aways this week so only going off i-follow commentary and reports, but adding those to the Oxford and Lincoln games its not difficult to tell our achilles heal is getting shots on target. Few and far between from what I've seen and heard. As said above though, we lost, we were due one, its not the end of the world. I think this is magnified when we don’t win and as you say don’t create as many clear-cut chances as we should. Lots of times we got round the back, flashed crosses across the box, hit the ball too hard/wide/inaccurately and shot/headed poorly. I agree with IE analysis that we made poor choices in the final third today. In the opening games, and I’m sure again in future games, we’ll do the same amount of sideways/backwards passing (which can tire and wear sides down and create openings) be more incisive in the final 3rd and win games. In those situations the possession based football we play gets praised rather than criticised. It didn’t work today. I think it will work more often than it doesn’t in the future, especially if we can strengthen in the window. And if not we should trust IE to sort it out.
