The club sent him a card signed by the first team saying they are thinking of him, after I contacted them a few weeks ago.

Top work mate. Not sure how I got to donate such an odd figure? Must have been related to the days exchange rate. No matter - great cause.

Late to this. So sad to hear about happy and hope hes battling as well as he can.

Said it before but there cant be many other football forums as strong as this one, with as much history and a hell of lot good stuff come from the place, friendships, charities and the likes.

Fair play for keeping it all going Neil.

its the longevity that sets this site apart, I was 19 in 2006 when I first joined, bonkers

Assuming I joined early 2000, give or take, was 22

now I'm 44

that's half my life on here

I’m the same. Joined in 2006 as a 15 year old - I’ve now been coming on here for more of my life than I haven’t. Can you imagine if there was something that told you how long you’d spent on the site over the years (please don’t tell me there is one)!?

Anyway, all the best to Happy Wanderer - it’s great to see the site get behind such a good cause.

I was similar time when it was on rivals. A little younger than Zico. Obviously.

Neil thinks it dates back to 1999

Think I found it on rivals night before a 0 0 at tranmere, same year

Pretty sure he left rivals in 2003

I was selling white love for smiley in 99 and Happy came over and asked me where he could find Dick Smiley aka the boss :)

After, Smiley said he wanted a chat about some interweb forum thing called rivals....

That's more or less how I remember it timewise. I was talking to Dick Smiley at the bottom of the Steps outside the Happy Shop about White Love and he asked if I'd like to send some stuff in for publication. That must have been 2000ish as I was still at the paper mill.

That's interesting, I used to contribute for HWGA and then White Love, mainly the Dear Brownie stuff etc. I think I showed the lad who cut and pasted it all together around the Breeze Block under construction one evening, I did a quite a few informal tours so uncertain. I was also on an internet web board in the late 90s as Dimron, I thought it was hosted by BEN but I could be wrong. I drifted away from it all when I moved to Cambridge and Megson came along.

Our paths might have crossed!

Happy’s daughter has just posted this on facebook 😢

Would just like to thank everyone so much for all the donations, we are absolutely over the moon. My dad can’t read or write anymore, so we have been reading him all your messages and he’s been smiling knowing how much everyone cares about him. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you ❤️

Best wishes to them all. What a horrible disease it is.
