matty2094 Posted September 23, 2023 Author Posted September 23, 2023 Go on then. PREMATCH Quote I'm sure they will still find 11 giants to batter us with. Quote Didn't they have an injury crisis before they smashed us last season at London road? Anyway not going Take a draw now but expecting a loss. Quote I'd still take a draw right now. Quote The last 10 Posh Football League games to attract crowds in excess of 20,000 (10 defeats) have been lost 27-5 on aggregate. (Swanny's latest) What a horrendous statistic. And Bolton expect 20,000 plus...... Quote Pleasantly surprised when I went to get my ticket to find out that they are only a tenner! So to keep the pleasant surprise theme going, we will get a hard-fought, nerve-wracking 2:1 away win. Quote Big crowd with this set of kids... Lose 4-1 JCH Quote Should be a cracking match with a good atmosphere and may the best team win and the games not spoiled by bad officials. Quote If we play like we did first half Tuesday we'll get annihilated. If we play like we did second half Tuesday we'll just lose. A bit pessimistic maybe, but I don't see us being physically up to this lot, even JCH got bullied by them last season. I'll go for a 2-1 defeat, we usually have a goal in us in games like this, I just don't see us getting a result. Quote Posh to win 2-1, we're too good for this league. Quote I am gong with Bolton 3 Posh 1 We will be physically brushed aside after starting well. JCH to score for Posh. DURING Quote NO SANTOS! Quote No Santos for them. I see they also have Kyle Dempsey. I have very few memories of his time at Posh, good or bad. Quite an average and forgettable player. And now I've said that, he'll go and score a spectacular hat trick. Quote Thought Dempsey looked good for us. Obviously a wrong un though. That many clubs and that many antics. They're welcome to him. Quote Bloody hell! I'm not sure about that. Quote Bit harsh, still Quote Just seen it, I think it was a red. He's off the ground, studs up, and gone right through Ricky. Not sure he needed to make that tackle. Quote Definitely a red https://twitter.com/poshgoals/status/170...BQczNVSqOQ, studs up off the ground Quote Red all day, hopefully James has packed up refereeing. Quote that looked to be an ankle beaker Quote Yeah. Was a red having seen a replay. Quote Ricky's pace is wasted now they're down to 10 men and defending - maybe need to put Randall on now to try and unpick the defence. Quote Feels to me that if Bolton sit this deep the rest of the match we should get another goal. Quote Not going to win this somehow Quote 4 minutes of added time. Seriously? POST MATCH Quote Ah well, we'd have taken a point beforehand. Frustrating we weren't able to nab another goal, sounds like their 10 men put up a decent fight though. Quote And was there bollocks only 47 seconds taken up by Vernon Kay's pitch invasion. Quote 4 minutes added, pitch invader on pitch for minimum 2 minutes, ref blows whistle on 4 minutes 50 seconds. Our players other than JCH couldnt score in a brothel. Quote We don't appear to have any plan B, it's all very predictable. 26 shots and 6 on target there's your problem, a weak bench and a weak squad. We should be happy with a mid table this season. Would have took a point at the start but can't help feeling that's two points dropped now. Quote 10 men and on their corners we dont leave someone up ? Quote That referee needs a new fucking watch. Quote The yellow card was Kioso’ fifth of the season and means that he will now miss Saturday’s home league match against Bristol Rovers, not Tuesday’s trip to Mansfield in the EFL Cup third round. Ferguson was left bemused by the decision. He said: “The rules are that the captain can go to the referee and ask a question about the decision. "The fourth official said that he ran at him in a threatening way, I don’t know whether he had a baseball bat with him or something. It’s not a booking in my book but we have to get on with it.” Quote
Popular Post matty2094 Posted November 8, 2023 Author Popular Post Posted November 8, 2023 Evening all, Had a few games off due to being manic with work, other work and other other work. Covering Shrewsbury away for now. Might go back to Charlton and Wycombe if I get some spare time. Apologies for the weird highlight - just the way it copies over from SalopWays. PREMATCH Quote Any body actually bothered about the match? Quote Bolton...not dreading it! Dunkley and Shippers back. We're gona win the league! Quote Bolton are on fire at the moment - winning 5 and losing 1 in their last 6 games, so if we get anything from this it’d be a bonus. I hope we don’t get spanked & make a good game of it. Quote wanderlust said: What do you think about your team? "can't buy a goal although he works very hard" x 11 Quote Prediction - 2-0 to Bolton. Quote Town are 3/1 tonight, I wouldn't have my money on it but I can't blame some for having a poke at those odds. Quote I don't usually pay much attention to opposition players during a match but Santos really caught my eye when we played you at your place last season. The bloke single handedly stopped our attack with some outrageous defending. Not sure how you have kept him in league 1. it will be interesting to see him up against Dunkley at set pieces. After 2 poor away results we need something from tonight's game. I'd take a draw now. Quote When Bolton are crap they win unconvincingly, when we’re crap we go a month without a single goal… Hopefully a repeat of last seasons cracking 3-2 win against them, such entertainment seems unlikely this season though, hopefully I’m wrong. Quote They've lost to Wigan, Carlisle and Reading and drawn with Burton, they're hardly 1970 Brazil. As I said, they're rightly favourites and I'd expect them to win but unlike last season where you could reasonably expect the top 3 or 4 to win almost every week, I don't think there's a team in the league who teams like us can't get something from if they play well. Quote Why the **** are we still playing "sweet caroline", for God sake get rid of it! DURING Quote Town frustrating Bolton, keeping it tight and very organised. Bolton don't look like they have any idea. Could all change but so far the game plan seems to be working. Quote Ref is giving everything to Bolton Quote Santos is a rolls Royce of a defender for them. Quote Town look well in parts. It's the first time in six months I can appreciate and understand what a town team are trying to achieve in a game. Just need that all important goal. Quote Tactics have been spot on so far, Bolton got behind us once which resulted in a shot over the bar otherwise they havent had a sniff. Front 3 have been brilliant and we have had a few chances ourselves. A natural certainly would not know which team was 3rd and which was 17th! It'll be interesting how the game opens up as legs tire. Quote Good half. Shrewsbury well organised restricting Bolton to few, if no chances. There seems to be a tenacity about them as well, hassling Bolton when out of possession. Quote Looking at our line-up, it’s no surprise that we struggle to create chances and score goals. Four centre halves, FIVE central midfielders, and one centre forward shoehorned into a 5-4-1. Good stuff so far though town, I’d love a point. Quote Well the positives are that we are level with side sat 3rd in the table and there is nothing between the two sides. Awful game, mind. Poor from both teams. Quote Not convinced that Marosi is injured for that. Midfield non existent now though and Udoh getting absolutely nothing from Santos. Bossing him. Quote These lot are dross by the way. The centre half is absolute mustard but other than that, they're bang average. Quote Should be a fair few minutes added on, lets see how Bolton's nerves are! Quote Great save Burgoyne with his legs, Town looking pretty ragged mind, can't see a goal coming for anyone but Bolton. Quote lucky not to be further behind. Quote Nobody in the world can defend us scoring 7 goals in nearly 25 hours of football. POST MATCH Quote Best side win , shocking referee , even added just 22 seconds at the end despite a goal with lengthy celebrations their keeper wasting half of the 9 minutes injury time , let them have absolutely everything , even overruled the Lino when he flagged our way , more possible injuries is a worry Quote Valiant effort from the Town players but we're just not good enough to get anything from teams like Bolton. Quote That sucks. First half we edged but it was always a concern that we could not sustain the pressing and countering and its another game were most were dead on their feet by 70 minutes. Bolton did not impress me at all but I think that is down to our decent defending. To lose the game due to playing on with an injured keeper is very frustrating. How Santos is a league 1 player I do not know. Ref was annoying, letting clear fouls go and blowing up for silly stuff. Quote Watching on Ifollow, the referee didn't seem that bad tbh. He was consistent in giving soft fouls to both sides. Could be criticised for not giving a couple of fouls against Santos on Mata when he was pulling his shirt off his back. But overall was ok Quote I thought the ref was thoroughly decent throughout to be honest, maybe it's just me? Quote Bolton will know they were in a tough match tonight and had to have a stroke of luck to get the points. If that spins past the post the game could very easily have ended in a draw. Quote We competed well until their goal but were beaten by the better team. You could see the difference in attacking play. They knew where their attacking players were and hit them with accurate passes. We tried, improvised but all too often were rushed into poor passes or there was nothing to aim at. Quote In all honesty, hand on heart, did we really expect to get a result tonight? I watched the game more in hope than expectation and sadly that proved to be the case (we did look ok at times to be fair). Quote Bolton are going well this season but we are nevertheless in a spot of bother now. Quote I thought ref did pretty well it seems clear the players are still playing for Matt Taylor and in fairness Bolton looked decent and we cancelled them out first half but there is zero cutting edge, and while the midfield can play some pretty stuff without much end product and the forwards are obviously lacking confidence as our goals tally in the league suggests. Quote As has been, rightly, mentioned, our season will not be defined by tonight's game, Bolton are nailed on top six and will give the top two a run for their money. We actually looked decent in the first half, pressed well and had a decent amount of the ball without doing very much. Second half was different and Town looked pretty ragged at times. I assume the decision for Marosi to stay on was his, but it clearly affected him and he was atrocious for the goal. Quote Entertaining game again tonight. for 65 minutes we went toe to toe with Bolton and more than held our own against a top team Quote Fair summary, In Udoh's defence he was up against a player that should not be in league 1, god knows how much Bolton are paying him. Quote Not slagging off for the sake of slagging off but I can’t agree with the majority who said we played well for 60 minutes. We did ok.. but we weren’t peppering the Bolton goal with quality efforts we knocked it around the midfield and back alright, but I think Bolton were quite happy to let us do that, as we weren’t creating any sort of threat. Quote I must have been watching a different game. The only "positive" I took from last night was that for a fair amount of the game we looked no better or worse than the side sat 3rd in the table but then I didn't think much of Bolton's performance last night either. I thought their second goal was well worked, not much other than that. Quote Last night was the turning point for me - lose against Reading and he should really be sacked. Quote They had the Wrekin at centre half last night. We spent the first half going over or round him with some success, then reverted to trying to go through him? No idea why. Quote And when we did get past him he hung on to our man and the ref did nothing , one of their players went down last night the ref played on ,his team mates played on , we got the ball , the player put his hands in his head , the ref stopped play and then handed them the ball back the kind of thing that happens on a park game when the ref didn't show up and the one sides manager volunteers to ref the game Quote Do you not think that the reason Bolton were not that good was because of how well we played? isn't that how it works? we stay disciplined and defend well and it makes the opposition look poor. That is the positive, we managed to go toe to toe with one of the better teams in the league and it took a big error for us to lose the game. Quote Personally if Mr Marosi holds onto the ball and doesnt fluff his lines, that game last night finishes 0-0 and we could give ourselves a pat on the back Quote

Members DazBob Posted November 9, 2023 Members Posted November 9, 2023 Santos really is head and shoulders above any other centre half in this division. Yes, he's got a mistake in him, but if he didn't he'd be playing in the Premier League, not the Championship. Quote

Wanderlust Posted November 9, 2023 Posted November 9, 2023 Shrews were a decent set of fans all week TBH. They know that defensively they are pretty good but are massively frustrated by their inability to score - maybe it's how they set up as being "hard to beat". From what I could glean from them, a few are already frustrated with Matty Taylor but he's only been there a few months and needs time to sort it out. If they back him in the January window he might be able to push them back up the table, but right now they're flirting with danger. Good luck to them I say. Quote
