frank_spencer Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 Tickets bought for The Menzingers in Feb. My mates have been raving about them for years, finally gave em a listen before Slam Dunk and they're brilliant. Quote

BobyBrno Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 Who’d have thought, all those years ago, that the soul music that us Northern Oiks embraced would eventually be played at the Albert Halls as part of the Proms.😅 From the Twisted Wheel, The Torch, Blackpool Mecca, The Va Va and yes Wigan Casino (there are many others) it’s now being broadcast to the masses. It was never meant to be for the masses, it was our music but it’s so good that it was only a matter of time I guess. Credit to all those dj’s who went over the water to find those golden gems. Keep the faith. Quote
Site Supporter Biggish Dave Posted August 28, 2023 Site Supporter Posted August 28, 2023 Just back from The Longroad Festival in Lutterworth, its country, Americana and roots music. Some quality acts and some of the lasses are fit as owt. Alana Springsteen and Megan Moroney certainly piqued my interest Quote

Shitter that Squid is same night I was thinking about getting tickets to Bug Club but with xmas coming and three teenagers nights out are now at a premium! The actor in Ghosts is in Squid's video for The Blades. Do you ever get the Speedy Wunderland compilations - love the stuff on that label. Quote

Not had any of the compilations but like a good few bands who have been involved with it. Went to see Warmduscher the other week and Dan Carey was in a band called Miss Tiny who were one of the supports and they were really good. Lounge Society played too. Quote
tshape Posted October 16, 2023 Posted October 16, 2023 Think Honeyglaze are on SW too. Or were. Saw them at The Snug in Atherton a while ago. Very good. Quote

Yeah Honeyglaze are very good, got a very early 80s feel. Missed SW 10th anniversary gig at Village Underground - that looked great, Kae Tempest was there - just finished reading her novel earlier this year, that's really good and ties into her debut album - but the single Salt Coast is something else. Although I think Pysch are my current SW favourite. Theuir album Howling At A Concrete Moon is worth a listen, perhaps not the most innovotive band but enjoyable none the less. Disco Lights is a great song Quote
