Marc505 Posted October 18 Posted October 18 Peter Hook & The Light tonight, good to hear some NO stuff played heavy but overall meh, it's a tribute act. Had some amazing experiences watching NO live since he left, they're still ace. Quote

Think there was about 50 of us in there. Now, they sell out everywhere, smash it out of the park and Rick is still the dogs bollocks as a front man. Quote

He’s finally growing in to it- Banksy most underrated guitarist of a generation Not arsed about Bully Boy, would’ve liked Around Your House; but Ocean Pie and On an Island With You was sublime. Change Giver an undated album. Just gutted my missus wants to run with the big dog, but still pisses like a pussy- V2 rolls up outside and we’re home within an hour. Cracking gig though- Stanleys seemed ok (Wiganers), and the band we caught in Red Hand(?) were good too Quote

It's not snobbish to say Shed 7 are a bit basic and shit. It's an opinion and you are allowed to not hold it. Enjoy belting out Chasing Rainbows (that bit is a bit condescending admittedly) Quote

Tapir! though have filled that particular gap this year. Also the label Speeedy Wunderland keep churning out great bands/albums. Quote

They were and are an awful, awful band that quite rightly were even laughed at during the 'glory days' of Britpop. The musical equivalent of a McDonald's cheeseburger. No substance, copied from better ingredients and unfulfilling. The fact a load of later aged middle aged folks have started going to gigs reliving their youth because their kids are a bit older and they get to go out again, does not mean they should suddenly have a musical renaissance. Ocean Pie? Lordy. Enjoy their music, but don't try and argue it's in anyway good. Quote

I went to see Crowded House last week, I'm sure to many they are basic and shit, who cares? I've done my Hungarian folk orchestra ensemble time 15-20 years ago. Edited October 19 by jmjhb Quote

Ok, Ocean Pie is a work of musical genius- vastly underrated and it's surprising why Rick Witter is not lauded as one of the best songwriters of his generation. Hope that helps when you are cranking out Change Giver 😁 Quote

Crowded House are great and Neil Finn is one of best best pop songwriters out there. Was out this week with one of my good friends who has just finished editing Record Collector's Rare Record Price Guide and we are so unsnobbish about pop - love it in all it's forms (he's done books on Madonna, Slade, Beyonce, Sparks, Chic....) But we can all agree that Shed Seven are properly awful. I will die on this particular hill 😄 Quote

Actually it might have just been my experience from last night, Im seeing loads saying how great it was and the sound was fantastic etc. I was upstairs at the back of Rock City and thought the sound was a bit off, so it might have just been where I was stood. They did play the full 11 minute version of Perfect Kiss though and that was blummin mint. Quote
