I think the brilliance of Afolayan tends to overshadow how well Lloyd Isgrove is playing. His workrate and commitment are phenomenal and he had their left back in knots at time last night. His relationship with Jones is a joy to watch at times.

Agreed.  Isgrove is vastly underrated.  We are a far better team with him in it.

He was called upon in the big games last season and it’s proving great now. Their LB couldn’t handle him.

I don’t agree with people questioning the Doyle sub, neither wide player could come Off that early, they limited Doyle’s touches so much and they started to tire, it needed that change with a bit of pace to get at them. Plus I don’t think Doyle is fully fit and looked a bit leggy in the second half.

I would have taken Lee off , he looked shattered late on and they were not doing anything. He was very good overall but late on change it up

Did not see why Dapo went off either.

Slept on it.

Area for improvement: crossing/final ball, though this improved as the game wore on. Perhaps unsurprisingly as the opposite tire and aren't as effective at closing down.

Kachunga's finishing, let him off for the slide in which he just couldn't reach. The missed header was a shocker though.

Nit picking over though, and overall a sound performance. As I said last night, Lee made a big difference. We were defensively less open, but the lad still made runs here there and everywhere. For me, he was mom.

Lee was knackered at the end.

I think the concern would have been  upsetting the defensive side, and risking a counter.

Once the full back saw red, it was perhaps an easier decision to make. I think Dapo was also a bit knackered and sore!

Robbed how are they near the top of the league!

Fine margins at this stage of the season.  Last 3 games they've got thrashed at Cambridge 3-0, drew 1-1 home v Cheltenham (on Sky, they were dire), and then been outplayed by us.  Points have come from beating Sunderland 1-0 who had a goal controversially disallowed, won at Shrewsbury who are poor, beat Ipswich with a late pen.  I'll stick my neck out and say they wont be top half by end October.

I love Isgrove, he may not be the best player but he makes up for that with 100% commitment and a terrier like attitude. He pairs up well with Jones and they caused a lot of trouble down that side throughout.  Final ball is the achilles heel at times, but it is difficult when teams set up like that and we did improve in that area in the second half. Think we missed Sheehans dead ball ability.

I haven't seen Bakayoko play so can't really comment on where he fits in once fit, but would be a shame on isgrove if he just replaces him.

Agree with the generally positive comments, a pleasure to watch that performance, at least upto the penalty area.  Obviously we can improve our potency in front of goal, but we knew that before last night.

Others have correctly singled out MJ (what a 2nd half) and Gordon (surprisingly composed and unhurried), but my MOM was Jones, thought he was absolutely relentless from 1st minute to last whereas some others took a while to get into gear.  No let up from him, what an engine and his passing is maybe underrated.

That's the first game I've seen for a long time when I wouldn't swap one player on the opposition for any of our's, even most league 2 sides had a stand out player.  If Hasselbaink gets a tune out of them he's done well.

And the wsl village found itself a new idiot last night, as if we needed another one

Fook knows what he was on but he wanted johnston subbing around the hour mark for being shit

We had one in the North lower last night too.  Some lad called Chinese Al had his arse handed to him.  For reasons known only to him, he hung onto the ball when it came to him in about the 80th minutes and tried to put it up his shirt! Young fat lad and an old bloke grabbed it off him and shoved him out of the way.

Last 10 minutes were shouts of "Chinese Al is a wanker!"

Dont wear a shirt with your name on it, if you're going to behave like a bell end!
