I've been working at St Andrews this year, they've installed "standing seats" on the new lower terrace... they remind me of sheep pens! Don't fancy it myself.

I recall when we built the Reebok wider than usual terraces were formed in the hope of allowing traditional standing in certain areas if the rules changed. I like this sort of standing because if you get fed up with some big mouth you can simply wander away, if you have a ticketed seat (or sheep pen) you're stuck.

I would love to see a standing paddock along the touch line, say 20 people deep

standing is good. yes its not like the absolutely shite old standing but the seats are decent and allow folk to safely stand. it also stops bellends falling on you when we score.

The cost of installation isn’t gonna change if we get promoted. A decent atmosphere maybe just the thing we need

Kind of thing that will cost a fortune I bet because only specific contractors have the required certificate to install a basic metal barrier.

If we're cash strapped we should probably park it for now even though I think it would be a good boost for the atmosphere.

Not having it that specialist folk will be needed. Be standard seat folk. It’s just Bolting in. It is run of the mill installations work.
