Shrewsbury were better than expected, their full back (#17) handled Dapo as well as any other has and they played some neat stuff, created a few chances and won plenty of corners.

Not so good was their time-wasting pretty much from the off.

Ref/assistants were poor, but they always are.

We were very sloppy at times today, but some decent personal performances. Santos was an absolute beast today, Lee was calm and composed in possession and MJ was just MJ. Doyle worked his bollocks off once again and for yet another game we failed to create a single chance for hime.

Overall, not our best performance of the season, but come May 1st when we look at the final table, it'll just be 3 more points.

Job done, bring on the next victims.

I hung around fiddling with my glasses again- when they came over to thank their supporters, one of our lot was shouting out "number 17, well played lad" :)

Despite his repeated compliment, number 17 didn't acknowledge him!

We are gonna get teams like Shrewsbury, battling away, nothing to lose, coming at us hoping to hit us on the counter. I thought they did well and on another day may  have come away with a point. The penalty 99% of the time goes in.

Santos was exceptional Lee & MJ are ready blossoming their understanding is a joy to watch.

We are getting fitter and fitter which is great. Baka is going to be important to us this season, wouldn’t fancy facing him 20 minutes to go.

We’ve played miles better than that in the second half and lost so we’re becoming mentally stronger.

It ended up a tougher game than i expected, Shrewsbury were a better team than i was expecting. Not seen a team in this division that i would class as totally shite, but then again i’ve not seen a team that i would class as really good.

With IE’s meticulous approach to each game,we’re capable of beating anyone. The play off’s at the very least should be well within our reach.

Agreed, Isgrove isn't a right back, had an easy time of it yesterday as Shrewsbury were intent on attacking down the other side.

I'm a big believer in playing players in their correct positions, so it's either Brockbank or Baptiste, and if Evatt doesn't fancy them, why are they in the squad ?

Evatt isn't stupid, so I imagine if Jones' isn't fit next week, he will put a specialised full back in there, I'm hoping he took Jones' off as a precaution as we were 2 goals to the good.

Brockbank is injured and Isgrove is probably a better option at full back in Evatt's system than Baptiste.

Considering how knackered they were after the last two away days, then that's a great result to grind out.

FFS, back in Bolton for 8PM last Saturday.

OK I take the 3AM job for Tuesday but hardly a European away to Khazakstan.

They're athletes and it’s part of the job.

Only losing makes you tired…..

I thought we looked like we were trying to get through the whole second half in 3rd gear, bit of a big ask at only 2-0, always keeps opponents interested and they kept going well. Thought their left wing back was a good 'un, great energy and pace, got forward well a number of times.

Bit more defending required than we'd probably have liked but by and large we did it well, Santos and Johnston both really good.

Keiran Lee first half was a Rolls Royce, absolute class act

Great goals. We'll be thereabouts at the end - I feel sure of it.

Agreed. The momentum from last season has resumed. Obviously a host of decent clubs around, but we're one if those. Get Bako in & firing, Kachunga fully up to speed, Aimson fit, Amaechi back for the rest of the season hopefully and a couple more in the window. This is quite a squad for the level.

There's a lot of games in this league. Plus the papa shite cup and FA cup left. There will be times when even the fittest athletes in this squad look jaded.

Not saying there wasn't room for improvement. We could also do with a couple of better options off the bench. But It's good to see us getting a result in tough games.

Good point from Evatt on their goal that the ref should be communicating with linesman saying it came off a Bolton player so he takes his flag down.

The lino did put it down after a few seconds.

Ultimately, it's incumbent upon players to be professional and play to the whistle. Santos appeared to have won his challenge and then grabbed the ball. Just carry on, clear it and then have a word with the ref.

A strange series of events for sure, just put it in the memory bank.

A bizarre incident for sure, i’m just glad it didn’t cost us any points.

I see Steve Cotterill thinks it should have been 4-2 to Shrewsbury at half time.

... oh, & both our goals were nice, but predictable and they'd worked on exactly this & shouldn't have happened. Apart from this 'mad five minutes' they were far & away the better team.

Needs a lie down if you ask me.

Their no 17 was Elliott Bennett.  Quick Wiki search....played the previous 10 years at Brighton, Norwich, Bristol City and Blackburn.  Captained Rovers last season and hardly missed a league game for them in last 3 years so it looks like a great signing for Shrewsbury.  Presume being born in Shropshire has something to do with it.

Agree with that, but re playing better previously in 2nd half and losing....surely its down to being a goal down, and so facing a blanket defence.  If Shrews had come out 2nd half with something to hang onto, its a different game, potentially another Burton scenario.  We've equalised a few times in the 1st half but 2nd half is a different matter, it seems the H-T score is key.  Dapo's equaliser at Charlton on H-T was massive, would have changed the mindset of Charlton 2nd half so we weren't playing attack v defence.

“Boltons goals were nice, but predictable”   What a fucking bellend comment that is From Cotterill. Do you get more points for scoring unpredictable goals? Double ROFL

Wouldn't mind, but apart from a couple from Dapo, we don't score many long range crackers. Hardly predictable!
