Current wife? You planning on getting another? 😃

I remember playing then at Burden and them wearing our away kit.

"Waddle lost the World Cup" every time he touched the ball

He didn't hold back his delight at their equaliser in front of the Burden Terrace

Said it before, but the match at their place was my second ever away match after wolves 93

And they served pot noodles

I was 16 and thought fuck me this is what it's like to be PL big time

I quite like Sheff Weds, stems back from 1983 (I think, maybe 82 ?), when we played them at Burnden on a Tues / Weds night and they brought loads, I think it was August / Sept as it was quite warm & in daylight - I remember walking down Manny Road as a 16/17 year old seeing their fans who had just come in on their special trains escorted down to the ground, one of largest escorts I'd seen it went on for ages loads of lads, several with mohicans at the front.

Amazing what sticks in your mind from years gone by.

My Sheff Wed memories from that era are 1982, when we had to beat them at Burnden just to have a prayer of staying up, and we won 3-1 (Tony Henry, Alan Gowling), still one of my best BW memories with a big crowd and great atmosphere.  A few months later, after beating Keegan/Newcastle, got the train to Hillsborough on the Tuesday.  A huge Bolton following of about 350 on the Leppings Lane terrace, lost 3-1, Mike Lyons scored for them, Henry for us again.  Always been my favourite away ground since then, partly because its hardly changed, 2 sides are exactly the same and the other 2 just added seats to the terraces.  Proper ground, proper club.

Good luck to the lads who have set off from the ground to walk to Sheffield this morning to raise money for Gethin Jones mams charity and raising money for a mini bus for the rememberance group

Meant to have been have a dozen lads doing this but one by one dropped out. Decided I’d throw my hat in the ring. Did 16.5 miles on day 1 (they did 23 in total). And then another 9 today (they did around 24). They’ve got 6 left to do tomorrow. Won’t be joining them as I’ll be doing shots by 10am by the sounds of things on the coach from Vulcan.
If anyone spots me at the match - remember it’s just my body - my brain and mind will be addled!

oh, for those that haven’t sponsored them - get chipping in.

It was our first home game of the season after we'd played Notts County away on the Saturday. They had played Newcastle at home & the Geordies had rioted all over Sheffield. We had stopped in Sheffield on our way back from County ( coincidentally JC was with us)..... I'm pretty sure Jimmy Nail got nicked that day & got sent down.
