you log into your ticketmaster account which you'll have from your season ticket purchase, click next 3 times tick a box and you're done

I don't think i've got an account, i pay cash for my season ticket & ring up for away tickets. ( & don't get me started on having to pay booking fees & whatnot for away tickets when i used to just pay & pick them up at the ticket office for face value 😄   )

If you have bought any sort of match ticket or season ticket in the last 20 years then you’ve got an account - it’ll be your CRN (client reference number) on your season ticket

So, as a long standing season ticket holder with Plymouth superfan points, I can't go to the Stockport cup game unless i take part in this pointless bollocks.

Season ticket holders are automatically in it. Like most have said there seems to be only negatives

That isn’t quite how it’s worded.

Though not necessary for season ticket holders for League fixtures at this point, it will become mandatory for all fans – including season ticket holders – for the upcoming 2022/23 season ticket renewals process.

Doesn’t mention FACup games for rest of this season.

Official Membership will become mandatory for all fans wishing to purchase home and away League and Cup match day tickets from – and including – the first-round FA Cup fixture versus Stockport County on Sunday 7th November.

“It’s a five-minute process for supporters to undertake either online, over the phone or in person at the Ticket Office. This will imminently become the only way fans can purchase a match day ticket therefore as a club, we encourage all fans to set aside a few minutes to become an Official Club Member.”

All supporters who are not season ticket holders will need to become Official Members in order to purchase League and Cup match day tickets for the remainder of the season (starting from the Bolton Wanderers versus Stockport County fixture on Sunday 7th November).

You can have a CRN without having an online account, I believe?

Of sorts, yes, but you can just activate your CRN online which bypasses the registration process and obviously links up with your season ticket etc.

What do you think this is all about?

If it was 2-3 years ago I’d have said as a data capture exercise, but it doesn’t work on that front now post-GDPR as if you’re creating extra accounts for others then those people aren’t in a position to approve receiving emails etc. Only angle I can see is that it’s a case of people have been buying rafts of tickets and, given the club would only have the details of the payee, GMP aren’t happy that there isn’t some form of accountability for knowing who is in the stadium etc. Suppose in theory it would also make it easier to issue a club ban for bad behaviour as they’d effectively be able to take away the membership and suspend it, although in reality that’s not exactly impossible with the current system.

Don't they take your details when purchasing a ticket anyway?

Common practice when buying stuff these days.

No new information needed, so it's not a massive hassle.

Back in the day if you fancied going to a game you would just rock-up on the day and go. Over the years that impulsive choice that folk once had has been eroded away. You now have to jump through hoops just to get a ticket. Sometimes days in advance. But now any newbie or casual will have to weigh up the ball-ache of it all before they make the effort. I reckon plenty won't bother. It's bollox.

We have the 'lets throw something onto the pitch' tosser's to thank for this.

The idiots, who don't care if any harm is done to the club (financial or otherwise) as a result of their immature actions will now need to decide if they can behave inside the ground or, if not, cannot risk having their details known & therefore daren't enter the ground - Good riddance to all those!

I’m working on the assumption that they’ve seen their arses about the trouble against Wigan and not having the details for some of the trouble makers.

What happened v Wigan, was there some fighting? or do you just mean the bottlethrowing and sign dismantling

There has been a resurgence this season generally, just this weekend Coventry steamed into Derby, Tottenham opened the doors under the stand to fight with West Ham and the Blackpool police stood watching and let the local lads do Preston, even Leeds bounced back from their humiliation at United to do Wolves, but Bolton v Wigan? I was there till 6pm and saw nowt

I’m sure it can be dismissed to “just” bottle throwing given the referee actually signalled to take the players off the field, and it was only Eoin Doyle appealing to the crowd that prevented that. Pretty unprecedented, isn’t it?

That’s not to say that I necessarily support the change as I think we need to do be doing everything we can to nurture new support rather than discouraging walk up fans, but I get the impression the club has faced pressure from elsewhere. Especially as this is a stark contrast to reintroducing cash turnstiles earlier in the season.

Pay good money, come in, tolerate poor service, sit down, say nothing (for fear of offending someone), watch the game and go home.

Oh and we want to know everything about you before you even get the privilege of being lucky enough to buy a ticket in the first place.

Where do i apply?
