That’s definitely the way I’m reading it. This article is all about the injuries and more importantly the illness (which definitely falls into the category of something going on behind the scenes that we didn’t understand was going on) And that sentence is is at the end of a small paragraph  explaining it.

Some people won't understand was the comment.

If that refers to simply some players being ill, then it's completely understandable, and his phrase is drivel.

However, it might be construed as a bit of a release of something else, that maybe be affecting the team.

If so, then either tell all, or keep quiet.

Pointless.

We know when players are injured and therefore don’t play a game - we are told before a game so we understand.

We don’t know when a sickness bug is going round the camp and there are a few players not available but also a couple that are off colour but have played anyway. Surely that therefore means that we wouldn’t understand the real reason as to why Dapo was shite, or the team in general wasn’t at 100% (before we were then told about it after the game, at which point as you say it’s very understandable). I mean, it’s a nice excuse but the comment was definitely meant to reflect that meaning rather than some bombshell that he’s tagged onto the end of an interview that suggests they all hate each other!

The lack of togetherness in the squad was very well hidden at the dinner last Saturday

I repeat, there's nothing sinister going on

This. The attending players were very much together…

and then Sarcevic tells all he’s “still in touch with some of his previous team-mates.”

There you go, still trying to split the squad.

Yeh, got to keep in mind that just 9 months ago we were only 8 places above Stockport in the pyramid. For all the talk of getting done by a non-league team, it's not like back in the day when it'd be a double-glazing salesman scoring the winner. Now there's precious little, if owt, between NL and L2. Look at how well Harrogate and Sutton are doing. So for all the deserved criticism of the performance, the (understandable) BBC hype about a non league team beating someone two divisions higher doesn't really stack up against some of the genuine upsets of a few decades ago. Unless it involves a L1 team that is really motoring and put out a full team, or it involved a team from much further down the pyramid, it's not the surprise it used to be.

Aye, i live in Stockport and in no bakers or greengrocers recently did i see rosettes and shite like that in the build up to the game

Magic of the cup my arse

They probably have a bigger wage bill

I see Sarcevic has had to close down his Twitter account after some disparaging comments thrown in our direction after our Plymouth defeat. This was then followed by some of our keyboard Twatterati finding historical comments that were homophobic and calling Stockport a shit hole 😂

He had a pop at the club & fans and couldn't handle the shit he got back in return. Don't poke a bear, I say.

This was a good one...

I harboured no hard feelings towards Sarcevic, but if he's been gloating about us losing to Plymouth he can get right to fuck and back, then get to fuck again.

This may also suggest that Evatt was right not to play him at their place.

Sounds a right bitter pillock, and one that won't be playing at a high level again.
