Nah, not when we signed him after he was at Barnet when he was considering becoming an Amazon driver

It'll be someone accustomed to higher wages in a higher league

JDB a good shout

  • And as we stand on the cusp of promotion to the Championship, let's not forget how far we've come. I posted this on Facebook three years ago today...

Hardly the point neither- Sluufy just being Sluffy. As the top man at the club, it was his responsibility to look after staff and ensure they got paid. To suggest he was under no obligation is frankl

Shirley Santos sounds like she does Gloria Estefan covers.

Can't be much brass in that.

We only released Isgrove at the end of last season

Supposed to be a promotion bonus and percentage of sell on profit.

No idea if it's true or the same as the famous Chelsea loan but have seen it reported.

Promotion and Dapo selling for say £3m will prob give us 50p

Stop exaggerating Dave. 50p, never. 🤣

I know but he's never played at a level where 8k is the norm and his last gig before us was Barnet

He'd have initially been on fuck all and can't see us rewarding him with a 8k a week contract at any point just for helping us get out of L2

He's an important player but not done anything to warrant what I assume would be a huge pay rise

Would be amazed if it was him

Sorry, i only mentioned the amount to show why its no surprise its a struggle to be 'sustainable'

If we go up sadly 8k a week won’t get you much in the championship

I hope we get the chance to find out

Not only that, but as ffp seems to be biting increasingly, I wouldn't be surprised to see wages start to come down a little.

it's not Santos though is it

I reckon it is for the exact reasons you mention. Short career and was surprised he signed a new deal as could earn more in champ etc.

I'm sure if anyone in the championship had wanted him we'd have sold him

GT showed if the offer is there for decent money we accept

I don't think we're in a position to be fending off bids by offering big wage rises via new deals

And he's never played in the championship so not sure how he commands a new 8k a week deal in L1

Unless we've given up on being sustainable because it's impossible

Not convinced by some of those figures.

Where do these sites get their info from?

I always take em with a pinch of salt

So many other considerations such as signing on fees, loyalty bonuses etc

I get the players coming down from the championship being on a good deal but less so those who've never played there

seen that a few month's ago

one or two have signed new contracts since

Johnston on a good screw

And why would we pay Dan 300k a year for someone with very little experience

but yes pinch of salt

Edited by radcliffe white

Pay a decent fee for anyone and you’re paying them well - you’ve shown your hand in terms of value to you and they’re not therefore going to accept being paid less than their ‘fair share’. That means Collins and Vic will be big earners.

I reckon Johnston will have known his value when signing his new contract and so he’ll be up there, santos as club captain should be up there, Baxter will likely be up there considering he was on a free and therefore in a competitive market and JDB being an international who dropped a division (although he got a new contract in the summer didn’t he, and so might have had to accept lesser terms to stay).

It's a relative I guess

Santos signed a 3 year contract 2 years ago

I'm still amazed he got 8k a week after one full season in in league one

Fuckin ell there would be some late parcel deliveries.

He'd spend 10 minutes outside your house fucking about until he finally posted it.

Says Jones is Welsh, can’t believe a word they say… 😬

No player brought through in the near five seasons running the club. Money invested in the club since.  Government, Swiss  and Fans bond. Obvious they cannot sustain the club much longer and need outside help. Fair play they saved the club but they certainly have no long term plans

Love it😃 I could see him taking the parcel out, putting it back, taking it out, putting it back, taking it out, putting it back - then clodding it over the fence.

It's very, very hard to bring young players through into the first team

So few actually make it, and given the state of our youth setup when FV took over it's no surprise

Doubt there has been a time in our 150 year history where we never bought a player through in that timescale.

Great that they saved the club and Sharon has been a great role model but i hope to god these Swiss backers have got a better business model
