One of the stewards who stands near me has told me the crowd before it’s announced.

He does a sharp intake of breath and says don’t look that many to me. He looks about 20 and has had all match to count it because nowt happens in my corner.

It seems the club is doing everything it can (and doing it well) to increase turnover but the brutal reality of trying to run a club sustainably in this era is hard (impossible?) to achieve

I think it means they didn't take any dividends.

I don't think your allowed to pay out dividends if you make a loss

I'm pretty sure it means they took no payment / salary  at all. Dividends (none) get shown separately.
