Bizarre that we gave him a new 3 year contract just at the time he was out of the starting line up, and he never got back in. Talented lad but somethings been off for a while.

As baffling as Dan's new contract.

Fuck me we proper lost the plot didn't we.

I can only assume that was about protecting an asset we think we might be able to sell somewhere down the line

Or it was in his original deal

I think we would all be surprised whats in a div 3 footballers contract

Did it coincide with a number of appearances, did we reject a bid, did he scire a goal with his head

Mad i know

Its why i dont get worked up about headline fees and wage guesses

Other midfielders negotiated contracts last summer and Morley didn’t. There was an element of ‘keeping him happy’.  The club needed him last season (‘in a back up role - he’s a competent league one midfielder) so it made sense to keep him happy and protect his asset value. Knowing he’s competent at this level makes it risk free. Easy enough to move on and good enough to help when needed.

Nothing is off with Morley. A simple case that the club and team have moved on since the point we bought him and he has probably peaked in his development.

Expect him to move on in this window (though I’d be surprised if it was a loan)

Even a loan could see 50k change hands, but if hes on 3 or 4 a week, we are still down on the deal

I like Morley and reckon hes far from finished

There were whispers on here at the time that he'd (or probably his agent) be looking to go elsewhere in that window if he wasn't offered a new deal

I don't know how true that is but I think he only had twelve months left

Morley this seasons had a mare, think his wife had kiddie and that usually ends up with downturn in form, think we see a better version of him this season, if he’s back to previous levels then I’d love to keep him.
