Article in The Sunday Times Business section about the new Sky deal for the EFL.

Neil interviewed and featured at the beginning and end.

Here’s the link for those interested, hopefully not behind a paywall.

Seems a small amount to mess everyone about with the kick off times lower attendances then lost revenue from fewer away fans travelling and the money the money lost from not being able to broadcast the game yourself . 400k will soon get eaten up

I think we're probably viewing it through the lens of a club with ambitions of promotion to the Championship, where we'd receive a more generous £2,000,000 per year

All that upheaval for fans as described by @Farnywhite, so that every club in the division gets more money.  So nobody is any better off in relative terms.  We get roughly enough money to enable us to buy one more player, and so does everybody else.  The players will get paid more, and every club will continue along the same path they were on before.  I'm sure there's more to it than I understand, but from the outside I'm not sure who gains from this apart from the players bank balances.

£400,000 ÷ £30

÷ 23 home games

= 580 adults per game

It makes no financial sense to me as with the movement away from 3pm Saturday & being able to watch it on the idiot box, well, I think we'll make a loss on the deal.

Would have thought they can charge more for live games for advertising on that ribbon thing we have going around the ground and may be they get extra sky money each time we’re on .
Apart from that it’s a shit deal if you get a couple of thousand season ticket holders not turning up for home games then beer sales take a hit

Factor in food and drink as well and you can quite quickly see this being a loss maker.

You can see from some of the chief execs they're thinking the increased exposure on sky will soon turn them into the next Wrexham though.

If that's true and the Swiss people want to exert more authority then there could be some times of change on the horizon
