Panto's are fucking ace, in a "so bad it's good" type of way. Bobby Ball's sons "The Harper Brothers" are panto regulars round here, and they're fucking brilliant at that sort of tacky shite comedy that shouldn't be funny but is. Once a year is enough though.

I used to think pantos were complete shit and I also always thought The Chuckle Brothers were complete shit and then one year I went to a Chuckle Brothers panto and two negatives did indeed make a positive.

Panto is crazy, you rehearse and rehearse,  get it wrong and nobody bats an eyelid then laugh at the wrong bits..

Matinée performances are always worse as often its mostly kids Nd the jokes go over their heads. 

My favourite line was Jack amd the beanstalk.. "eeee Jack you're late!x looked out to see some horrified faces and some in fits and giggles..

Aye. Not for me, when you see bits on the box they just seem shat. Can't say anything from childhood made me think they're anything but.

Might be a bit different now,  in the flesh, but have never seen the attraction.

Seen them in Panto at Preston Guild Hall about 10 years in a row. Same act and jokes every fucking year but I still laughed. Just a bit of fun innit, and keeps the kids entertained for a couple of hours.

Just remembered, I met Jimmy Cricket a few years ago, again at Preston Guild Hall. It was after the Panto had finished, and he just stood by the door as everyone was going out, thanking people for coming and having photos taken etc. No money exchanged or anything. Massive smile on his face too. Must just be a nice bloke.

@Not in Crawley I'm sure you've mentioned they're like a gateway to real theatre though so they're necessary for the overall industry. Or am I dreaming it?
