Dr Faustus Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 Fucking love it. Regret my career choices now. Alexandra Burke still milking hallelujah but looking fine. Kids getting older, but still see the delight in their faces, and getting the more subtle gags now. Get to the Palace in MCR if you get chance... Quote
Rudy Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 Wife is going on Saturday with my daughter and my mam. Me personally I couldn’t think of anything worse Quote

Not in Crawley Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 It's fucking awful. I hate all Christmas shows. Can't get hold of venues for no good reason and bungs up sales and activity during December. Oh and they are shit. Oh yes they are.... Quote

Cheese Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 Panto's are fucking ace, in a "so bad it's good" type of way. Bobby Ball's sons "The Harper Brothers" are panto regulars round here, and they're fucking brilliant at that sort of tacky shite comedy that shouldn't be funny but is. Once a year is enough though. Quote
ErnestTurnip Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 I used to think pantos were complete shit and I also always thought The Chuckle Brothers were complete shit and then one year I went to a Chuckle Brothers panto and two negatives did indeed make a positive. Went three years running. Quote
only1swanny Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 Panto is crazy, you rehearse and rehearse, get it wrong and nobody bats an eyelid then laugh at the wrong bits.. Matinée performances are always worse as often its mostly kids Nd the jokes go over their heads. My favourite line was Jack amd the beanstalk.. "eeee Jack you're late!x looked out to see some horrified faces and some in fits and giggles.. Quote

Cheese Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 This is what I mean. It's so fucking bad, it's actually good. Reminds me of my childhood. It's like watching Blackpool. Quote

Might be a bit different now, in the flesh, but have never seen the attraction. Each to their own. Quote

Same act and jokes every fucking year but I still laughed. Just a bit of fun innit, and keeps the kids entertained for a couple of hours. Quote

Cheese Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 Just remembered, I met Jimmy Cricket a few years ago, again at Preston Guild Hall. It was after the Panto had finished, and he just stood by the door as everyone was going out, thanking people for coming and having photos taken etc. No money exchanged or anything. Massive smile on his face too. Must just be a nice bloke. Quote
ErnestTurnip Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 Surely Swanny's panto must have been Snow White And The Seven Jobs. Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 Get an Ak-47 off the black market. Kill everyone in a hail of automatic gunfire. Take a jerry can of petrol and torch the place. Then turn the rifle on yourself. Quote
Cheese Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 He did look dead behind the eyes though, Jimmy Cricket. Poor fella. Decades of the same shite. Nice bloke still. Quote
stevieb Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 @Not in Crawley I'm sure you've mentioned they're like a gateway to real theatre though so they're necessary for the overall industry. Or am I dreaming it? Quote
