athywhite1958
Has anybody any recommendations for a WiFi extender, I have bought and returned 2 recently both around £30 as they were shit, I'm with Virgin for internet
Site Supporter barryk32 Posted December 31, 2021 Site Supporter Share Posted December 31, 2021 Depending on what youre trying to connect to the network Power Link is the best by miles. Following that it depends how much you want to spend. A Mesh system is really really good but pricey

I've tried extenders and they haven't worked. So no I opted for the Goodle Nest router Mesh and it works a treat.
Moderators Casino Posted January 2, 2022 Moderators Share Posted January 2, 2022 If your conservatory is on the same circuit as the socket for the router, get a powerlink/powerline whatever Used to be in maplins but prob on amazon
Moderators Carlos Posted January 3, 2022 Moderators Share Posted January 3, 2022 I got one of these for the back of the house so my security camera can get a signal. Works fine. £12 or something. Only issue is it's another network to your router with "_ext" on the end. Not a problem for me. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07PKX1ZD1

The WiFi extenders are shite - providing you can but a powerline and plug into that - you've pretty much for full internet all the way around the house. Think they're about £50 for 2 on Amazon and you can add to them around the house. We've got 4 in now. Took about 3 minutes to install about a year ago and I've had no issues since...... 👍

Tremendous job they've done. Like Casino says - you just need to be on the same electric powerline to use them. https://www.amazon.co.uk/NETGEAR-PLP1000-100UKS-Gigabit-Powerline-Adapter/dp/B01N3YCC7R/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?crid=30ELWL9B1FNZA&keywords=netgear+powerline&qid=1641395873&sprefix=netgear+power%2Caps%2C85&sr=8-

Providing the extension lead is plugged into the mains. I do that with my PC upstairs......

Yes, but dont if you can help it. The ones linked have a plug on the back. Plug the extension lead into that, not the other way round

The signal it sends goes through the massive thick electrical cables in your wall. The wire on the extension lead is pitiful in comparison. I suppose it depends just how fast you need it. I'd opt to plug it into the wall and run a long ethernet, if its just for browsing and porn though it will be reet.
