Watched the highlights and charles doesnt come out of them well

That header would have been a fitting end to a fantastic build up

Secondly, he really should have given it bakayoko on the other one

I understand why he didnt thiugh, prob thought it pointless and tbh, it was a good shot and forced a decent save

He def looks very sharp...good signing, but could do with bagging soon

Yes he probably should have given it Baka if the defender couldn't cut it out, but as we won anyway it was also good to see that he possesses a hard, accurate shot with his weaker left foot.

Biggest plus about that move and others was that Baka was there as an option at all, instead of what we've been used to - Doyle on his own.  Without having a great game as others have said, Baka was a big part of the first goal and I'm not convinced that happens with 1 up front, same with the move for Charles' header, the extra body in there helps massively.

I seem to have started a debate over the most meaningless part of yesterday. Was Dapo goal side or not for a goal when even if he was probably stayed out the way enough to not be given and we do not have an exact angle anyway.

My initial point many posts ago was that at times yesterday such as the header just after goal and the scrabble off the corner, we for once had the rub of the green. Sooo much better than we have seen in some recent games and plenty to build on. First clean sheet since November and only 4th this season.

Yes and while no clean sheet is taken for granted, the previous 2 were against really poor teams (Crewe and Doncaster).  This was the first against non-strugglers since early September (Burton) so this feels very significant.

Evatt has no plan b.       Can this be put to bed now.

Thought from the off we looked a lot more of a unit when defending , not sure what the official set up was but it seemed to work yesterday.

Could also see that Charles looked more settled in that system making his runs for the flicks from baka(even though he doesn't win many for a lad his size)  perhaps this is where the millwall lad comes in, we shall see.

Onwards and upwards

Reminded me of the Salford at home last season. Bad run of form, new keeper drafted in & back to basics with a more workmanlike rugged display which you very much need to do to get out of a rut. There's no real point in trying to overplay when your confidence is at a real low as mistakes are obviously going to be at higher probabilty considering the current form. We completely nulified & restricted them to make them look very ordinary, no doubt it threw Ipswich's gameplan off when we set up in a 5-2-1-2 with no Dapo. Just hope we can keep with the standards we showed yesterday in terms of doing the ugly side, being as combative & standing up to duals it was so pleasing to see us not get bullied for once. New bodies in need to get used to each other but when they click there should be some good football on show.

No plan B

Doyle is shit

Why we selling doyle

Selling Sarc was a mistake

19 year old goalkeeper

Something is wrong in the club

It’s a long list of shit excuses that people want to moan about, I honestly don’t understand the moaning and impatience all of the time.

IE is a good manager, we have good backing and some really good players just need to let the lads do the talking on the pitch

Anyone who went to Accrington Hartlepool and especially Fleetwood had every right to moan.

One thing about yesterday that I don’t think has been mentioned (and maybe I’m over-analysing it) was how the formation changed depending on the situation in the game.

I know it was probably strictly a 532, with Jones on the right of the 3, but there seemed to be plenty of times where it had naturally shifted to a 4231, with Jones at RB and either Bakayoko, Charles or even Lee dropping in down the left hand side of the 3.

It was relatively subtle but I thought it was one of the key features of us looking balanced in both attack and defence and I’m not sure we could have achieved it successfully until we have brought in the new lads and we’ve got a couple of key players back. Hope it continues that way and Evatt keeps managing to get more and more out of the squad.

Yeah we looked really adaptive and flexible like they had worked hard on it
