Injuries

It’s going to happen.  Put players back in the mix after being cold and not training no matter the warm up you will get small tears, it’s inevitable

These injuries always look worse when you’re so thin on the ground but they happen at every club

18 months ago we barely had a 5 aside team It’s remarkable where we now are. Getting quality in every position takes time, getting quality cover in every position takes even longer

Dempsey seemed to grow into it a bit more on Saturday,  thought he played better when Dapo came on and Morely went off so he dropped deeper. The game seemed to pass him by more in the advanced 'Lee' position

Yep, I agree pal.

Think Sadlier might be more effective in that forward role with Dempsey digging in a bit more.

Surely he should have the op now.

If he keeps suffering and having additional niggling injuries because of it, then he's not playing much anyway.

Op will take him out of the season. The specialist who wanderers use is the absolute business. If he can’t sort him no one can

Kieran Lee being sent to see a specialist for a heel problem to see if he can carry on for the season .

Pretty sure Bolty has had the same op and he is continuing to enjoy his footy.

I've got the same condition ( Bone growth on heel which overstretches the Achilles tendon) very painful whenever a "Sprint" is attempted

The injury ended my thriving footy "career" at 55yrs old :D but  by then i was just playing 5-a-side, so i couldn't be arsed having the operation.

By all accounts it's a painful op that requires quite a bit of recovery time.

Yes I should have added Sadlier has looked decent in the more forward role in his cameos so far, although not sure he can do the linking of play that Lee does. Dadi actually looks ok in that role though and maybe give Morely a run there, his passing range and ability looks good

I'd put Thomason there. Just to piss Horwich off.

maybe we extended it because for 20 plus games a season he is a top lge1/championship player

We have signed players who dont play that in 2/3 years

👍👍👍  👏👏👏👏

Is "being stern and hard to please" a sign of being macho and hard-headed realism  or just mean-spitited and short-termism ?

We've had players with ¼ of Lee's ability, or attitude & put up with them.

We signed him knowing he had injury issues in the past (hip iirc), this heel spur doesn't grow overnight either. But it will, excuse the pun, heal. He was planned for annop close season, if it has to be done sooner then at least we have the back-up now.

I understand that.

If he's not able to play more than 20 minutes or so before breaking down though- which he's done twice recently, then it's a no brainer. Get him sorted sooner, and get him firing for the championship next season...

Think if they know he won’t be fully fit they’ll call his season and get him going for next season

Indeed.

His history doesn't bode well for being able to manage the thing until the end of the season sadly.

Hopefully the specialist can make management possible, but I'm not confident just from his previous record.

Agreed and we are a better team with him in the team......get him sorted and come back for the Wembley play off

Tbf we've had a lot more games out of Lee than all of Shef Wed's fans had expected we would get... especially considering the shit state of some of L2 & L1's pitches. Fingers crossed it's nothing too serious because his pressing is paramount for the front line but if he's out for the season then there's tons of options. Sadlier, Dempsey, Xav need to step up to make the position their own, we could also use Dion up top with one of Baka/JDB with Dapo in the 10 like we have done in a few games, we could potentially utilize JDB as the #10 linking play up working hard off the ball which are his main traits or Evatt can slightly tweak it to the 5-2-3 to fit in Xav, Sadlier, Dapo a bit better. I agree that Dempsey in his small game time looks to lack confidence as the no 10, his ball control receiving it in them positions looks very rusty maybe because he's been playing deeper for Gillingham this season? He gets bypassed easily as the no10 too & seems to track runners better when deeper. Hopefully just a matter of time before he shows why Champ clubs wanted him & calms down with the hesitation in his play at the moment.
