Get Evo signed up on a four year deal. Just so we can enjoy the collective meltdown from Horwich. Especially when he says,'Its always been my ambition to return to my spiritual home and secure a double promotion to the Premier League. Bolton has been a great stepping stone on my journey, but it begins for real now'.

Then this.

They are all absolutely shitting themselves because they all know that if he is interviewed and offered the job he will be gone

And this.

Nailed on! "In Evatt we trust!"

This.

Probably not but don't be giving it the big one, you really aren't a big club, really are only League 1 and will probably still be at that level after next season. Evatt is a Blackpool legend, our club is very well run and him fancying a return to us and a dabble at the Championship shouldn't be ruled out. Football never ceases to amaze, don't get too attached, a kick in the nuts could be just around the corner from Horwich..

Seems they have every faith in Evatt going, fuck em.

I am somewhat concerned that he could go there but I would be slightly surprised if he did. He's got a great thing going here and whilst there would be benefits to going there, it's not on the same level as their manager going to Aston Villa.

I would think he'd want to have a crack at promotion this season and then if that doesn't materialise and there are still championship offers then he may be more inclined to leave.

I think that's pretty much bang on

Don't think Evatt will be remotely interested in managing a club with such a tiny support base, and no realistic chance of promotion to the Premiership. Far more likely to go the other way and get relegated next season.

I had it in my mind that Blackpool had a really good season last time & were pretty close to getting into the play-offs.

Looking properly they ended up on 60 and 16th. Fair enough, first season back I guess but some way from looking great.

In fact  looking beyond the top few and the 3 relegated clubs, who were pretty well cut adrift, the final table had quite a few surprises.

I notice we are referred to as "murderers" again in the Blackpool thread. In the tiny minds of their support if you go to watch the Wanderers that means you are a murderer.

There's a lot of seeking to compare our support and support base with theirs and attempts to make out they are as big a club or nearly so.

Fact is they are at a pretty high water mark and we aren't. There's no comparison in terms of the two clubs when it comes to top flight seasons, success and gates. Its all piss and wind.

When we list our rivalries these don't feature with some folk. They do with older fans to a greater extent. I don't think Evatt will move there - but if he does it'll be like Coyle moving from Burnley to us and Blackpool can expect an upgrade in attention levels from us. In future years that will not be a comfortable place for them to be - as their older fans well know and understand.

We still have Burnley and Blackburn also still looking for managers so this is going to rumble on for a while yet

Burnley have got Vincent Kompany and no way would IE work for Venkys so relax let’s face it the only reason Blackpool is lingering is because he played for them if he hadn’t then no way would it tempt him

And yet they absolutely despise us. Magnificent.

I don't think Preston have ever really registered with any of us. They're more of a sparring partner than a rival. The enduring Lofthouse/Finney friendship sums it up really. Don't like em when we play um, but that counts for most clubs? They were one of the first on the scene with dignified help when our troubles were at their height a few years ago.

Blackpool? They're in the Wigan category. In fact in some regards they were the original Wigan. They've always had a deep spite towards us and thus its always good to put one over on them and laugh in their faces. The 70s fixtures against them were very spicy and we invaded Bloomfield more than once. The 80s was similar but to a much lesser degree as it was lower division football.

Whisper it ... but Blackpool also showed some class towards us when our administration period was at its miserable worst. The club ... not the fans.

Like tranmere trying to get some rivalry going

It’s amazing how many clubs fans hate us, it’s great to see, we must be doing something right.

Bolton Wanderers hate club “Fylde branch”.  Still not as vocal as the “Pie eaters branch” or the “Birkenhead branch” but quite a few new members from Morecambe.

We all jointly killed one of their fans in 1974.

I took a look at Kevin Olsson on Wiki to confirm the year. Fucking hell, I’ve never read as much bollocks in my life. They really do think they’re up there in a list of top firms! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Muckers

It seems, despite their insistence on labelling all Bolton fans ‘Murderers’ they aren’t without sin themselves.

Quote

Then on 6 May 1978 at a concert by The Vibrators in Preston, a young man from Preston was stabbed to death during clashes between Preston and Blackpool fans.

People in glass houses…

I notice all that bluster about "The Muckers" mentions 85/6. Doesn't mention the vast away following that day or that Bolton fans had to break in to and invade half of the closed Kop because we'd filled their away end down the side of the pitch.

I also notice it doesn't mention all the Bolton invasions of Bloomfield Road in the 70s including Christmas 77 when the away following was half of the 25000 gate.

Nor does it mention the pathetic followings they brought to Burnden in the 70s.

In addition it doesn't mention our fans all over their pitch after the Sherpa Van two-legged win that got us to Wembley in 89.

Blackpool is famed for its tower. On the strength of this it should be famed for its airbrush.  About as slanted a version of history as it is possible to imagine.

Tinpot.

Never ceases to amuse me how they refer to us as being based in Horwich as some kind of insult.

Yeh Wigan are always on about us playing in Horwich, they seem to think it winds us up no end, when none of us could give a flying fuck.

Anyrurd, i know a Bolton postcode when i see one.

I wouldn't bother reading that mate, their big "hammering " of us is utter rubbish, we didn't get their by train as it was a bank holiday and no trains ran, we went by coach, and as a young un at the time, we watched as some of the older lads (some of you on here )went to the muckers main pub and they wouldn't come out, and their lads didn't raise their heads that day
