Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted February 10, 2022 Site Supporter Share Posted February 10, 2022 Seems like he's retiring. Been at the club a very long time. Article in the BN about it, and apparently he's not missed a first team game since 1981. That's some going. Top effort.

Yes. A great bloke and servant to the club. He’ll be very hard to replace. Good luck to him in his retirement

Its still an absolute Bible. I would imagine that's a possibility now. Part time club historian would lend itself to exactly that. Some money for the club too flogging the books. It's a shame the bloke who put together the complete history of BWFC matches and players on the interweb decided he had enough. Brilliant was that. Shepeard I think he was called 🤔

Leyther_Matt
I’d be amazed if Simon Marland didn’t have a database far and above any of those seen online before.

glennboltw
Top man is Simon, I'm luckily enough to know him personally and spend nearly every Sunday (when Bolton aren't playing) watching Swinton RL home and away with him, his knowledge is unbelievable he remembers absolutely everything regarding BWFC. I have the 1887-2002 edition & referred to it twice only yesterday (can'tfind Vernon Allott anywhere in it). I'd love him to update it to the Evatt era one day. Not many people with Simon's utter devotion. No side to him and worked with some of the best & some of the worst. We can only thank him, admire him & wish him the best. I think his support first started when Swinton moved to play at Gigg Lane, I'm sure his daughter went to school in Bury or had some affiliation with Bury and he got some tickets to watch Swinton and just became hooked.
