We aint getting better

If we don't get better for the championship IEs not doing his job (he'll know that).  In league 2 we started with a non league keeper, in league 1 we started with a league 2 keeper, if/when we go up he's not going to make the same mistake again.  Trafford may be great in future but I've no idea where people are seeing the evidence yet - what's it based on other than maybe 1 save or catch a game, and plenty not saved.  That's not a dig at him, he's a great character and I hope he has a great career with or without us.

This.

He's 1,000 times the player Crellin was, is or ever will be. He's considerably better than Dixon despite being several years younger.

I got pelters for saying Dixon wasn't the answer. He was certainly better than Crellin, but goalkeeper has been Evatt's consistent blind spot. It really is very odd.

Trafford is pretty good, for a 19yr old. He could well become a properly top keeper. But it'll take a year or two.

I’ve said on another thread a very small percentage improvement makes a big difference to this team.

If Trafford learns not to give a suicide pass like today, that will be a small percentage change. If he learns to claim long throws like we faced at Burton, that could be a bit more.

he’s far from the finished article but I’m happy for him to learn on the job with  us

The midfield and forwards gave the Dons far too much room to get the long range shot in for goal one, and Santos gave Trafford a back pass from nigh on twenty odd yards out for the second. Shirley he could have swung his left peg to get it away from our goal.

Fair enough Trafford could have done better with both, but the others need to hold their hands up too.

Trafford is plenty good enough for where we are at the moment. We are not going to be paying out top dollar for a new keeper.Just for a change can we not all get behind the team without having a scapegoat you never know it might be enjoyable 😉

Was that pass yesterday any different than Dixon at Hartlepool?  Any keeper needs to realise when we're being closed down quickly maybe a hoof up field and hope to get the run off the green.

His pass was indeed just as bad.

He had plenty of time to play it too- could have hit it first time, but still had enough time to play a better ball.

It's a solitary mistake though, and he'll be rightly backed.

I’m not pushing for folk to lose their place but Dixon didn’t do much else wrong at Hartlepool.

It was the only mistake to lead to a goal to our opponents.

Even though you've got a point

I think Trafford is a much better keeper than Dixon, the whole defence seems to have much more confidence with Trafford behind them and he seems to make quite a few less mistakes than Dixon

It's a different defense.

“I was there for five months, it isn’t really a big thing,” he shrugged. “I have had bottles of water in my room for longer.

😁

Brilliant one-liner. He's a cocky sod, but seems he has the talent to justify it. Nowhere near a finished product of course but very promising.

The interview he did before yesterday’s game basically confirms he’ll be with us next year. All about this group staying together, kicking on next season, “we” this and that.

I get that he might just be towing the party line in terms of what Bolton will do next season, but it very much sounded like he already knew that he’d be here next season and considered himself part of the team.

Fingers crossed that’s the case because I think he’s already proven he’s more than good enough, seems to be improving all the time and will only get better. Now to get Fossey back!

Trafford has got better as the seasons gone on be happy to have him back

i like fossey however hes only played about the same competitive games as his age slightly worrying with his injury record, I certainly wouldn’t be offering a long contract if we had the chance

That's the spirit.

... and Jussi, Peter Reid, Ricardo Gardner could all go & fck 'emselves as well. Don't even think of Eider.

... & Campo.

You really are dramatic

Different times now financially we can’t afford to tie someone down on a big deal to then have him out
