Upside was i got in a bar

Was that the bar under the viaduct arches?  We had a much better afternoon in there than staying at match. Locked the doors before the masses came too.

November 1977, 3-1 loss to Leeds in League Cup. If I remember rightly we were 3-0 down and the consolation came when we were outside. The other consolation was avoiding the ensuing carnage...

Plus 1978 at Anfield as were again 3-0 down and had been promised a kicking; we avoided that but many, many didn't...

Forgot about Wigan away. The police had this military style operation for the final whistle and the last thing they wanted was exodus of fans walking out just after halftime. Remember one of their top brass outside panicking a bit not quite sure what to do with his troops.

Off the top of my head, the ones that stand out are the Stoke Semi Final, the Bristol 6-0 defeat, when we lost to Fulham 4-0 about 7 or 8 years ago and losing to Derby 4-1 similar season.

The latter 3 we went down for beers at half time and never bothered going back up.

myself and @Danny Gleft that game after about 20 minutes, it was that bad

No, but the week before at Burton I was gone after about 70 minutes convinced we were down.

That and the battering at Wigan are the recent ones that stick out. Was halfway back towards town soaking wet when Remi Matthews rolled the ball out to their striker.

We walked back upstairs just as that precise moment happened. Didn’t say a word or even looked at each other, just promptly turned back round and went back downstairs as there was a lad selling bottles of Heineken for a quid.

Police wouldn’t let us walk back towards the bus station after the game and sent us back towards Springfield instead. Couple of verbals in each pub but told them we weren’t interested. Word must have got round as we had a welcoming committee by the time we’d got down to The Old Pear Tree. What I wasn’t expected as a load of Wigan lads buying us shots as a reward for being daft enough to drink in their main three pubs!

Loads and loads and loads of games, it would be even more if they let you out of grounds early at some Euro away games.

Some games we didn't even bother going in, just stayed in the pub.
