No idea if this is genuine or not but if it is just shows how small time he is. Imagine someone asking him the highlights of his career and having a couple of good games against Bolton in League 1 being worthy of a mention. Tinpot.

Like most of the Wigan team they’d crawl over broken glass to play for BWFC, sadly for McLean he’d never be accepted by our fans even before he played for Wigan his sectarian antics wouldn’t allow it. Small time club, fans and style of play… genuinely would not bother me if we never play them again. ( mind you it does greatly amuse me how much they hate us) (envy us) (wish they was us)

If they're the best team in the league then we certainly got nothing to worry about going forward next season. The main problem for me, is that the first 20 minutes we just got bullied like many games. We have so many weak as piss players, Wigan's players were much stronger and went in to their challenges harder.

We also make too many mistakes, the amount of poor passes we gifted them. But this is it. If we cut out most of our mistakes we will win 90% of our matches. We controlled that game yesterday, what did Wigan really do? We've seen the so called 'best' teams in the league and have shown that we can compete with our style. We just need to be stronger and cut out silly errors.

We definitely need new players, because Evatts plan and methods are certainly working and will take us far. MJ, Aimson, Johnston, Kachunga certainly not good enough.

I agree with previous comments, we need at least 2 solid centre backs around Santos that are comfortable with the ball.

We are not far off at all. These were a championship team a couple seasons back, last year we were in league 2, yesterday we went there place and barring the first 20, we controlled the entire game.

Yes very much, Lee & MJ have done well for us and will be great within the squad but we’re moving on

not IE type of player but we still need a wheater like defender to do the ugly stuff

Problem with that is, as long as we’ve got Santos then the Wheater-like defender would need to play left or right of the 3, and therefore absolutely be required to play football - otherwise the system collapses like we have seen with Aimson.

The challenge is to find another 2 Santos’, one of which is left footed… good luck with that! (To be fair, Jones is more than good enough so it’s really the left side of the 3 and making sure we get a RWB, which means Jones can stay in the back 3, and adequate cover which we just don’t have at the moment).

On your MJ / Lee point - I agree with MJ but still think that Lee has a lot to offer and if it wasn’t for his injury then I’d have him as my first choice in that position at the top of the midfield, especially in games like yesterday. How he comes back from his injury and how long he can keep his work rate for is another question though - I think he’ll play a bigger role than MJ next season.

Genuinely think we need to move on from Kieran Lee, squad player at best next season, 30 minutes here and there.

Our recruitment of a RWB (ideally Fossey) will be critical for that back 3 next season. Allows Gethin to drop in there and Just calm them all down. He’s been nothing short of fantastic for this club since day 1 but him playing out there affects everywhere else massively

for me give adam senior the role for the rest of the season, lets see what he can do, could save us a few quid if it comes of, and play morley, dempsey and sadlier as a midfield 3.

Fair points mate

I like Lee but time on the sidelines through injury will only get more, no disrespect to Bolton but thats the reason we got him otherwise he be playing in the championship

Interesting how we all see the game differently because to me without doubt Kieran Lee is the best No 10 we have. His pressing is intelligent, his ball retention is 2nd to non, his vision is superb and his late arrival in to the box is priceless

non of our current squad can lace his boots in that position

No denying he’s been a decent player, also no denying he’s not the future.

I would like to see Morley and Dempsey play together rest of the season and Sadlier at 10 , Dapo is not a 10 agree about CB for next season.

As for Lee he’s quality and Evatt said himself he’s our best number 10!

No I agree he’s not the long term plan but certainly good enough to be a prominent player to get us out of this league

IE will clearly stick to the 3 CB’s. It’s what he wanted from day 1. Dempsey has to play a more prominent role alongside Morley. Sheehan can play in the 2 or as a 10. Big questions about where Dapo fits in to it all..

Best number 10 when fit

big difference

20-25 games out of him is enough. Then others to come in as/when but there’s no debate he starts there when fit

Anyway. This British guy from Londonderry ... is his injury terminal ? Or at least career threatening ? That'd make up for the vile scrote not getting sent off ... if not for his otherwise utterly horrible nature. He shouldn't still have been on the pitch to get injured.

Obvs im biased, but that challenge on the iceman at 1.30

Its very high risk, at best

Hes a wonderful player at this level, btw

Even as a huge IE fan, I think he has so far shown a Coyle like blind spot ( I couldn't insult him more ) in not setting up teams to match opponents' early physicality like at Plymouth, Stockport, Fleetwood, Burton & 1st half yesterday. Once we've taken the sting out of them, we can outplay them.

We should have started with one of our big no9's to try & hold the ball up & give them something physical to deal with, & I don't get why Dempsey isn't starting, I'd be building our midfield around him.

Along with Fossey, my biggest wish for the summer recruitment is a midfield bruiser who can play a bit, an upgrade on MJ i suppose, but we're not far off & i trust IE to  get it right.

Aimson's limitations were cruelly exposed again by both the opposition and his own team-mates, but that cross alone means he had a good game. It's one of the best balls we've put into the box since Evatt arrived. Our delivery in the final third is generally very poor.

Was that Kachunga at the back post for their goal? FFS!!

He wasn’t the first player to have the opportunity to hoof it away.

In the previous match at Crewe, Aimson again put in the best cross of the game, the one where their keeper made a blinding save from Dapo's header.

Just stand up and he stops it going in.

Agree. That it came all the way through was probably a surprise to him as much as us.

Might as well as not have been there. What a crappy goal to let in though not blaming one player. First 30 mins looked to me like a repeat of October was on which was frustrating because we all know how much better we are now.

DJ being out was the first blow. I always think we are better with him even when he went through a rough patch. Sadlier having to be played out of position, Jones too, the bloody internationals meaning Bod didn't start and Dempsey not being in for MJ. Was not confident before or up to half time.

Once we started playing 2nd half though we were on top playing our game. To be honest like already been said they are physical and direct nowt special at all. Impressed by their defence and that's it. If we had that Kerr & Naylor we'd piss this league.

Interesting see who bring in this summer. Dont think it would necessarily be a big blow if we got decent money for Dapo either.  Prefer him to stay obvs. but we'd cope

Pretty sure looking at that Kachunga is fouled by their player throwing him to the ground.

Sad reflection that only 3 of their players celebrate in front on their fans rest run to Bolton end.

I think some people on here do need to read back their posts on our players. Other than Santos think pretty much the whole starting 11 and a few not playing due to injury have been called out as not good enough or ones we have to move on from. On IE one thing I think we have lacked since he got here other than when on that run last year is a best starting 11. The one we play week in week out. Even with injuries this year it would be hard to call. Get that stability and consistency next year would IMO be a massive boost.

That’s what kachunga was looking for, was pathetic the player hardly touched him and he threw himself to the floor… Evatt won’t have missed that.
