Bad day for them Sat, drawing a very winnable home game with Rotherham & Cardiff winning. On top of those tough away games, they entertain Coventry next Tues who are playing as well as anyone at the moment. Maloney has toughened and tightened them up but they offer very little up front and they need to start winning games now.

They played Birmingham - they both end in ham

I think it just needed a comma after "home game".  The mention of Rotherham was because they'd won and gained another 2 points on them, rather than implying they'd played Wigan.

Yours, grammar police, always happy to help 😄

Tonights result at West Brom is very welcome but really pales into insignificance when compared to breaking  news off the pitch ...

i posted on here last week that Wigan had just put £8 million into the club via a share issue and wondered why ..

well..

Yesterday they filed their accounts at companies house for their 2021/22 promotion season (year ended 30 June 2022)

The accounts show in that year they made a loss of £7.75 million

with Wages of £13 million against a Turnover of £8 Million

They made a profit on player sales of £2.3 million - otherwise losses would have been £10 million

A lovely read .... and it aint getting better anytime soon

I’d think this seasons accounts will look a lot worse.

we even got a mention in their accounts. 🤣

As the calendar year closed, Latics amassed sufficient points to see them sitting in second place in League 1, having delivered some fantastic results in that period, including a comprehensive victory at the home of the Club's closest rivals, Bolton Wanderers.

They are comical.

Looks they are about to become a whole lot more comical as well.

Watched their game last night. West Brom should've had a pan full & Wigan offered nothing til the last few mins, when WBA got a bit nervy. More bad news for them Christ Tiehi, who they rave about, limped off at half time & Whatmough got injured in the warm too. They're at Burnley Saturday.

Currently 3 wins off safety & 11 to play. With no games in hand & a 12 goal GD deficit.

Lose thoroughly to Burnley on Saturday & things will look very promising

But I'm banking on nothing with these slippery fckrs.

£13m wage bill last season. Absolutely fucking ridiculous 🤣

relegation, ageing players coming to the end of big money contracts, full rebuild needed with no money to do the work

its looking lovely. Death by a thousand cuts is far more enjoyable

Out of interest - does anybody know what our wage bill looks like?

Same as most wage bills, it'll just be a list of names and numbers on a database.

Been mentioned a couple of times before by IE we were and probably still are mid table in that respect so maybe 7 or 8?

I imagine our income is greater as well? Based on ticket sales and other sources of revenue?

Or maybe there is a big jump in TV money on promotion to the Championship?

I agree that’s the ball park we are probably in. Based on nothing more than an educated guess:

Sheff Wed

Ipswich

Derby

Barnsley

Peterborough.

Top 2 - perennial big spenders

Those in Championship last year maintaining those wages.

Then I reckon we are in amongst the Charltons and Portsmouths of this league

Double the number of ST holders for a start

That law where a goal by an interloper on the pitch has to be allowed still exists doesn't it ?

Just one to keep behind his ear, just in case.
