Traf
Previous England teams would be about 25-4 off those 17 overs just faced.

My view; We’re good at 50 over stuff, so deploying those skills, in batting. Bowling; got to take 20 wickets to win a game and they have committed to that, by attacking. This has been a key difference, as they have taken 20 wickets (I think) in every test since the change of management/philosophy. The opposition have to adapt and I don’t think Pakistan did that well. if Australia can adapt then they, probably, have the bowling to retain the Ashes. It was never 5-0 at home, I don’t think they have beaten us here this century (check), so I’ll go with 2-2. But, we could win and it could be tremendous exciting. Or we could be battered. Wanderlust
Win or lose, McCullen's approach to the game makes for entertaining cricket and so far has unsettled the opposition. It almost feels like we're going to get found out sooner or later but for now we should be enjoying every minute of it. After years of the doldrums there is some irony in having an Aussie coach and an adopted Kiwi captain to completely change our approach to test cricket and the ECB have to be applauded for being open to change. We have the players to do it so I can't see any reason why we shouldn't keep winning for some time to come yet.

Moderators Casino Posted December 20, 2022 Author Moderators Share Posted December 20, 2022 i still have my concerns about our batting but with our bowling, at home, we can give anybody a game in oz, i still say we get battered, unless archer, wood and any other speedster can be fit
Moderators Horwich Posted December 20, 2022 Moderators Share Posted December 20, 2022 The 2 tests in NZ will give us a better indication. I do like Harry Brook, he is an exciting talent. Rehan Ahmed will hopefully keep improving and have some ups and downs. He can bat aswell, which is always a bonus.

globaldiver
Not England, but NZ have 5 successive batsmen with double L in their surname. probably a record, outside Wales

Lt. Aldo Raine
I see Steve Smith's signed a three-match contract with Sussex. Good for them, not quite as good for England's prospects of regaining the Ashes.

That would be a positive but unfortunately Sussex are marooned towards the bottom of the second division and there aren't very many fast bowlers capable of troubling him down there.
