A Bad Day 35 Years Ago.

Christ. I’d missed a few seasons due to being away at uni, come back home, got a job, lived a miserable life in a bedsit in Warrington, and had finally bought a house there but was on my arse, on my own, and only made a few games at the back end of the season. Went to that game on my own hoping my life was back on track only to see that

That made Wrexham a year later all the sweeter

Just shows how the absolute lows make the highs even better

Remember going down to Aldershot for the first leg expecting our fans to turn out in numbers ,

Thought we would treat it like a cup tie , get behind the team and somehow escape the drop .

We'd had a superb turn out at Coventry for the FA Cup tie a few months earlier and ok it was a night game 200 miles from home but it was the realisation that night that most fans had given up on us.

Could not have been more than 300-400 there

No idea why I didn't go to that one (did former loanee Mike Ring score the only goal?).  We'd taken loads to York and a sizeable following to Gillingham too in that last month.
