I can see a family from a lower income area like JF struggling with that. It costs more for the bus than it does for our season tickets take your point, but you could just walk
DazBob
Or just get a regular bus and walk a little bit. Admittedly, the cost does seem high, but it should never be a reason not to go.

tomski
Think the point is being missed by some. £7 For a kid is outrageous

Site Supporter MickyD Posted August 18, 2022 Site Supporter Share Posted August 18, 2022 It ought to be a quid-a-kid. That’d encourage an adult to take the kids. The club have obviously stopped propping up any losses made by the bus company
frank_spencer
Given that TFGM are capping all adult single bus fares at £2 and under 16s at a quid from 4th September how the club/tyrers can justify 7 fucking quid is beyond me.
bwfc2003
Maybe the club are looking at the fact that not many people use the busses now - as evidenced by the reduction in bus numbers, and like you say cant afford the subsidies to Tyrers

That must be massively subsidised though, just as the buses have been previously. Get Tyrer’s on card only and they’ll soon see the costs disappear. Just take you a bit longer. https://tfgm.com/get-on-board?utm_source=MPU&utm_medium=website&utm_campaign=Bus+fares.

But if the kid in question has been coming for a couple of years by bus, they have been paying £5 anyway, so the extra burden on the parent is £2, not £7. I'm not defending the decision, and for parents with more than one junior the increase could be the difference between all the wains coming, or one having to stay at home. Everyone's situation is different and I wouldn't want to be in that position. It's a bastard and no mistake. I've noticed a reduction on the number of kids on the 5 from Farnworth.
