Short term I realise it would hurt us but I’m actually inclined to agree with him. Slippery slope. We’d never do 12 years in the prem again, let alone in a row imo if this fully opens out.

I don't understand your logic. Why wouldn't we?

I think it will open up the floodgates for clubs to negotiate additional/own tv revenues and by the time if or when we made it back we’d be a small fish in a massive pond.

For me it’s sets a bad precedence that the greedy twats will use to argue individual deals.

We were a small fish in a massive pond for the 12 years we were in the Prem.

Yes. Not like you to split hairs.I’m suggesting if additional self deals become available we will be too small a fish to survive. I suspect you already knew that.

I see his point, but at the same time his ground is tiny. Once it sells out, is it not reasonable that subsequent ifollow sales should raise revenue for the away team?

Maybe that's how the split should take place-proportionally according to unsold away seats. Beyond that, the away team gets the cash.

I'm not splitting hairs. I'm honestly trying to understand. Are you suggesting that Sky, BT Sports etc. might adopt the iFollow business model?

As stated I think it can open up avenues for clubs selling their own rights. Probably on their own platforms.

No I think holt is suggesting  that clubs will be able to go down the old Spanish route and negotiate their own TV deals independently from the league as a whole. Leading to the big 6 making millions each year and small clubs a few grand

Surely the EFL/FA would prevent that from happening? These types of decisions are subject to a League vote (as was the iFollow deal), so the few clubs who would gain the most from such a drastic change would easily be out-voted by the many 'small fish'.

If the FA and EFL do their jobs properly, that would never happen. As we saw with that European Super League bollocks.

You’d like to think so but I think once a precedence has been set I think it will be game over. I follow in uk is clearly coming and I think it will open up the argument for future cases.

I hope you're wrong, but we'll see. Maybe Holt does have a point, and I'm glad he's aired it. Definitely food for thought.

The home teams keep all the attendance revenue for league games.

Should iFollow revenue be split equally, all given to the home team or given out proportionately based on who's watching? (I cant remember but am I registered as a Wanderers fan when I watch iFollow?).

I can see an argument for all 3 options but tend to lean towards the home team keeping it all, less iFollows cut.

There’s a commission on the sale away tickets but it’s only about 5%. Might have been a decent earner for us all the same though last season.

In terms of iFollow, you’d just buy the stream via the BWFC service to track as a BWFC fan. Not sure how it works with an independent service.

maybe a hybrid, where once the maximum away allocation has been taken up in physical tickets and ifollows, the money goes to the away team

At present (unless something has changed), the home team keeps the revenue for all iFollow match passes bought through their own website, and the first 500 bought through the away teams website, with the away team getting the rest. Not sure what the split is for physical tickets.

Seems like he doesn’t like the responsibility and consequences of running a tiny club. Simple solution. Don’t fucking do it. There’s a hierarchy in every league and they’d be at the bottom of whichever one they’re in

if I’m paying to watch a match on iFollow it’s because I can’t make it / didn’t get a ticket but still want to support my club. Including financially. Not so some small time muppets can rub their hands with glee at the money they have made. As is generally the case in any sport the bigger draw takes away the biggest piece of the pie.

what’s his alternative? Accy TV? He’d then only moan at the start up and streaming costs of that!! The guy would argue in an empty room. Rebel without a clue.

he wouldn’t be asking for shared distribution if he ran a bigger club. First class dick head

He's already getting his money from a sold out away end, why should he get more from additional away fans paying on ifollow. I can understand his point if the away team doesn't sell out the full allocation, but when they do like we do then the ifollow money should go to the away team. If he wants more match day revenue then he should build a larger away end or give the away team more tickets.
