Bradley’s miss?

Aye. No idea why they haven't included that. Very weird.

That was the turning point in the game - it wasn’t on ITV highlights either.

And it was the only bit that I wanted to see. Can’t watch that fuck up again for the first goal.

Not seen us perform that poorly since Stockport away. We couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo.

Best team won on the day. Bradley takes his chance and it's a different game though. Small margins and all that.

We were better yesterday than the last game v Sheff Wed in April, when they were streets ahead of us and Bannan could have had 3 in the first 15 minutes, they bossed that game.  Yesterday it was very even for the first half hour and without the Santos error its deservedly level at H-T.  Small consolation but I thought we looked closer to their level yesterday than we did in April.

Bad day at the office.

Will happen. We’ve 41 games left. Nothing was won or lost.

Do feel that game was for the taking and think we beat ourselves as opposed to Wednesday doing us per se.

No need for scapegoats.

id moved on by full time. Bring on Tuesday and more importantly next Sat.

Bradley scores and that was a completely different game. Having said that, Wednesday look a solid, well drilled team likely to be thereabouts at the end of the season.

If someone had said I will see 3 wins and 1 loss before heading back down under, I would have snatched their hand off.

Quick word with Sharon and Mr. Evatt before the game thanks to Little Whitt! That lad will get where water won't 😉

A pleasure and a privilege to catch up with Little Whitt, Satan Greavesie, Barnstoneworth, Casino, Steejay and Jules+Junior+Senior (massive favour in getting me to Stockport and beyond thanks to the train strike - cheers mate!), ANewman and Junior, Mr. H, Meldrew and Junior.

Also a pleasure to put the following faces to names: Micky D, Gonzo and Junior, OggyBWFC and Embankment (plus Ashburner St Fish market, Sputnik and Pinnochio's Dad).

As I have always known, no fucker comes close to matching BWFC fans. Bolton til I die.

Missed off Captain Med. I am sure there were others! Aspalls cider haze.

cba reading through a load of reactionary comments about today.

We played really well for 35 mins then imploded in 2 minutes and never got going again. Simple as that.

We will be fine

Pretty perfect summary of the game. TBF to Weds you could argue they never let us get going again.

Having reflected on yesterday I think the thing we all need is patience.

  • We're never going to go through a season unbeaten/without poor performances.
  • We've a pretty young side and with that comes inconsistency - that gradually improves over time.
  • We're in a league with several large clubs queueing up to get promoted and we've no divine right
  • August and September are full of games against those clubs whereas October and November aren't. As such our season might gather pace haltingly but then rather more quickly.
  • Without a super-wealthy owner we haven't the capacity to solve all of our little weaknesses in one transfer window. As such we are having to evolve through several (although obviously there was a big leap forward in January)
  • We still have players on our books who played in League 2 but our aim is the Championship. That's just the reality and sometimes it might show.

Let's see what Evatt does in and around deadline day and if we are 9/10/11th at the end of September let's view it as being handily placed rather than a disaster. We are where we are.

I didn't really want to post last night, stayed of facebook etc as I knew there would be posts galore of people slating the team "We need better players etc".

We played well, they played well, when we had a few moments of madness they capitalised on that and then it went to being 2 very level teams, however with our heads down, it took a while to get going again. They'll be up there at the end of the year.

Bradleys head went after that miss, it had the writing of "goal of the season", but he's young and he will learn from it, could see it in his face for the next 5 mins after that he was gutted.

Santos and Trafford were both at fault for the goal, 50:50, my first reaction was WTF santos, then when you consider Trafford positioning, was not great, Santos was rabbit in headlights for the next ten minutes.

First 20 mins, they couldn't manage Baka and Dapo, then they seemed to lose their momentum. I've said it time and time again, that Baka isn't a player who should be starting, he is an amazing impact sub, when they're tired they can't handle him (Such as the first 20 mins), but.. after that he loses his impact. Lost it too many times yesterday.

Morley had an uncharactistic bad day at the office, as did Dempsey, they just cancelled us out and knew how to counteract our passing game. Mj Williams didn't have his best game, and maybe Kieran Lee would have been a better shout.

We're strong enough to be in the top six, we're going to lose some, but, it was clear they knew we could get back in it, hence the time wasting from the 60th minute.

Decent ref too

Four defeats since January I think evatt said yesterday, it’s a measure of how well we have done in that period that after yesterday’s performance there’s a level of disappointment. To be thinking of automatic promotion in our second season back in this league is pretty remarkable considering where we were two years ago, pretty confident that with 10 days left of this transfer window and the one in January we will at least get a play off place.

It’s still early days but the table is starting to tell the story with all the bigger clubs at the top and I don’t expect it to change much over the season and those top teams will take points off each other. It was a blow yesterday but if we can get a win at Plymouth on Saturday it sort of levels things up again. I expect Wednesday to be automatics this year so poor as it was its maybe not as bad as it seems?

If only it was that simple 😁 I think the issue is we don't have a track record of winning these tough games and a draw is realistically what we'd settle for.   That would be a good result but would leave us further off the pace for now.

Midfielders scoring themselves rather than creating?

It’s only a matter of time before the strikers start scoring, have to also say it’s clear that Charles is absolutely vital to our pressing game enabling us to win the ball higher up the pitch and create more opportunities.

I get that there's a place for experienced old heads as shown by the likes of Bannan and Gregory, and last year Hutchinson, but 5 of our (arguably) automatic picks in the bigger league games - Trafford, Bradley, Johnstone, Dapo and Morley average about 21, without doing the maths.  Most wouldn't want them replaced with older players in the same position.  The other 11 that appeared on Saturday provide plenty of experience and age.

Whether there is enough quality to beat the top teams is another topic but its not for the want of experience.

I’d rather our average age than there’s, we can improve from here on in.
