What did he say?

I wasn't sure about that midfield but they played very well and after some mistakes recently thought Santos was very good

Most surprising was John on the bench, thought he was out for some time with us signing Beck, thought he might come on for Iredale who looked knackered second half

Don't rate Baka as a starter so the sooner JDB is back the better

Few twitchy arses when Trafford went down with no sub keeper

Guessing Sadlier didn't take his chance the other night

Bizarre, you said

Our strongest line up going forward imo

Trafford

Jones, Santos, Iredale

Bradley, MJ, Lee, Morley, Beck

Charles, Dapo/Bodvarsson

Dapo for me is better out left wing rather than left forward, but we'd have to change our entire system to accommodate that

How can you pick Beck as first choice when you haven’t seen him play?

Could you imagine the outrage tonight if we had lost and Sadlier hadn’t made it onto the pitch?

It just goes to show no matter how much we pontificate we really don’t know how these players have performed in training and impressed Evatt to make the starting 11.

There’s no way I would have predicted a starting 11 without Dempsey or Morley today, never mind both of them.

Sometimes we just have to trust Evatt that he knows what he is doing.

(I did say that after Tuesday Thomason was closer to the starting 11 than Sadlier 😉)

Yes you called that one, fair play!  Although I think I'm closer to a starting place than Sadlier (captain of Park Lee primary 1977, with a deceptive lack of pace).

Playing devils's advocate, but a 3-1 win, which could have been 5-1  or 2-2 (if our handball goal wasn't given?) doesn't always mean every selection is spot on.  Its just conjecture that if "X" player plays instead of "Y", we don't win.  I find it stretching it a bit to think we couldn't have beaten Charlton if any of Dempsey, Morley or Sadlier had started instead of Thomasson, Lee or Bradley (of the 3, I thought Bradley was often wasteful and his crossing very average today, as good as he can be).  If Sadlier had started and we won, some would be saying "see, I told you" and that doesn't make that any more valid than the opposite view.  We have a load of midfielders, whoever plays, we are decent with qualities and faults.  If we win, the one's that don't play are still good, if we lose, those that played aren't poor.  And being a bit puzzled as to why Sadlier is still miles behind everyone else for minutes still seems valid, for arguments sake if he'd come on for 20 minutes instead of either Dapo, Tomo or Bradley I don't think we would have been hugely weakened.

Thomasson had a good game , so did Kieran Lee but their midfield was dire. Don't think kieron Lee got marked once all game.

gonna be tougher games coming up , especially away from home but today was good

So, how about you dont rip the selection to bits?

Johnston as well surely, what with him being the best defender we actually have?

I thought Johnstone got dropped once or twice last year?  I don't think Santos or Jones did, without checking.  And some think that Iredale might take his place for some games.  Definitely not the best defender today, beaten far too easily by their winger a number of times.

Think today really reinforced what I knew before, Baka isn't good enough, in his role with our style of play he needs to be touch and bang to our players around him when in transition and surrounded by multiple opposition.

Today showed he can't do that, his touch, control and hold up play for a 6ft 4 striker is quite bad

Bodvarsson is a level above him.

I think last year showed us his role as a bench impact player.

If evatts choice is bod or baka, he only had one choice today

He did. And I was perhaps his biggest critic.

The point I was trying to make, which has been backed up by todays performance, is that others staked their claim more- Thomason (even though I wasn’t expecting that selection and that kind of performance today)

The fact that we have someone like Sadlier on the bench should be viewed as a positive, not a negative.

Very brave selection from IE, he would have got dogs abuse if we had lost today after making so many changes. Although I don't necessary agree with him making 4 or 5 changes every game, but today he got it spot on.

Thomason & Lee outstanding, Bakayoko not so (IMO) - I honestly can't see what he brings to the team, and I still think that we need to be stronger at the back, although Santos had a good game.

Very good & important 3 points.

Good points 👏

Sadlier seems to be your new Darcy!

Although I do think Sadlier has something to offer this team - but I’m happy for Evatt to decide if/when those circumstances arise.

I think if we had been chasing the game today, after the positive performance lots thought he had Tuesday, we might have seen him.

But today Evatts selection and substitutions were spot on

Dunno why anybody would

He gets 9/10 right

Spot on.

Apologies above - wasn’t quoting you re Sadlier, don’t know why  it’s quoted as your comment

Think it was @Zicowho made the comment “Guessing Sadlier didn't take his chance the other night”

Once again a highlights show which doesn’t consider a legitimate goal ruled offside incorrectly a highlight or at least a discussion point.

We all know the excitement occurs at the goal-scoring end but Trafford made some great saves and only one gets shown.

Good job we can discuss on here then 😊

It would (and should) have been the cherry on the top of his performance today.

I think, as @Ani pointed out, there was a flick on from one of our players a split second after that and Thomason was stood in an offside position.

Aye. Looked like Charles got a touch on it to me.

Edit: Although I've just watched this, and am no longer convinced.

Not sure if it’s Charles but I think it’s flicked on here, by which point GT’s beyond the last defender.

Shame really as it would’ve topped off a great performance from him.
