I’ve changed my mind on this non football malarkey, other sports are continuing and why shouldn't the football, play the games celebrate and acknowledge her life and get on with the games.

I think football has it right and those cracking on are wrong

Its once in 70 bastard years

So you think it would make more sense shutting all bars, restaurants,, shops, outlets, garages, and every other business?

Really struggling to see your logic there?

I'm an all or nothing type of person

I don't understand why football stops but everything else carries on

I anticipate the "national sport" arguement but I think I'm being generous in guessing 10% of the population was meant to be watching football this weekend

The other 90% are cracking on as Normal

So my logic is we're either in a state of national mourning, or we're not

But in reality, a minority don't get to do what they had planned to do, but everyone else carries on as normal

My plans for weekend don't even change so I'm not pissed off or anything, but I'm struggling with the logic, given there were meant to be protocols in place for when she passed

I hope Charles dies during a football-less summer

Death or the queen is by far a bigger event, hence the massive disruption to come over the next few days

See my post above

There isn't massive disruption

There's only inconvenience if you planned on watching football

Which most weren't

As West Ham showed last night, hundreds of thousands of her loyal servants could pay their respects together if football went ahead.

I've got a refund (less £10) for my train, so I now don't have to go to a game I didn't really want to attend, so I've no axe to grind in either direction, but fans should have been allowed to make their own choices whether to attend or not.

Whole lot should be cancelled for me.

Surely we can all just have a day off to show respect for the most famous woman on the planet?

Its probably the biggest death in our existence. Doesnt come any bigger really does it?

Chill out folks, it happens once every 100 years. Relax, raise and beer or two.

Football will be there next week.

I don't agree with you, but I'll raise a pint in a place that shouldn't be open if we're going to do grieving "properly", anyway.

Then I'll see you in Cheltenham on a Tuesday night in winter 😃

Won't be another 70 years, and some folk have to crack on, the day of funeral should be a day of mourning IMO, no more no less.

But like others have said, not worth falling out over.

And another thing, I've surprised myself at getting affected over the Queen's passing.

:D

I'm washing my hair that night haha

I get your angst mate, I really do and wouldnt have batted my cap if matches were on.

I just feel its the right thing to do.

Theres keeping businesses open and folk carrying on working and then theres the whole country cracking on going to sporting events. That'd be too much for me.

Theres a big difference between grieving and showing respect as well.

As has been said, I’d get that if all the pubs were shut, other sports were postponed etc.

There will be far more folk pitching up on your doorstep, going to the Trafford Centre, dragged round IKEA etc than there ever would have been going to a football ground. Obviously even more so, now.

Bellendery would be at a al time high if football went ahead tomorrow

Can it for 2 weeks imo

I say ban the sport forever, it just attracts virtue signalling knuckle draggers anyway.

Breed it out of the population until they all follow a wholesome enterprise like blasting the brains out of defenceless animals and getting pissed up on high quality liquor over it.

Just posted in the kids footy thread- should've checked the grown ups first.

Patron of our sport has passed. A sport we gifted to the world. We bow our heads, and we go again. I understand- I'd be frustrated. Pretty sure games have been called off for a lot less with equally short notice...
