Is that the best you can offer?

A meaningless, comment unrelated to the issue.

A simple comment that you clearly haven't considered: the government could and would have still implemented the change if we were still in the EU.

Incidentally, the SFI system we now have is a huge move away from the CAP, and as a self proclaimed environmentally driven individual, you ought to be greatly supportive of it.

Another example of inaccurate, snide guff being used to defend an utterly crackpot move.

That's crap.

Why can't he support his fellow farmers?

Is it because he's well off and can take the hit?

Another eat the rich comment.

He's done more with his series to highlight the difficulties they face, than anything or anyone in recent times.

His ventures into diversification are following government laws and guidance- something which applies to every farm- have shown the ridiculous conflict that occurs within planning and nimbies.

We can also see the ludicrous,  burdensome administrative requirements, and the poor performance of DEFRA in getting out SFI payments.

I've seen it first hand, with a hedge replanting scheme kiboshed because of the concern over slow payments. In turn that cost me money.

The comment about rich folk avoiding tax by buying up farms is also wide of the mark. Obvious as it is, and as pointed out by a tenant farmer; is that their rents may have to go up, which they may not be able to afford. Another risk to their businesses.

When the main justification behind any scheme is that "it only affects a few" then it is a terribly poor do.

What's more 27%, or whatever they claim (it's different depending of which branch of government is appraoched) is not a small number.

They don't operate in the way other businesses do, and the food we have is underpriced, so be careful what you wish for.

To be fair, a lot of what you say there is valid but also nothing to do with the last budget.

I am all for supporting farmers, especially where they aren't getting a fair price for milk and cattle etc.

Any tax has to be fair and equitable.

Note the farmers aren’t campaigning to get rid of iht for everybody.

Frankly, they can get to fuck.

We're giving billions to Ukraine and made-up the climate loonies and you're going after the farmers?

You need to log off for a few weeks, hun x

But that's literally why Clarkson said he'd bought his, and then got arsey when he was reminded of it in the clip.

I do agree with much else of what you say though and if anything, this issue should bring greater scrutiny to the UK farming industry. If they would just stop feeding their animals chips and keep the big eared boys out of view!

He's absolutely rattled there.

He is, there are loads of farmers around here, and they're all absolutely minted - especially the ones who have flogged off huge pieces of land for housing. We do have, at the edge of the village, and one farmer has 10 turbines on his land, apparently, he gets apparently £25K per year for each one being on his land...not bad really, as it's probably more than he'd get for growing crops (which he still does around them) - to be fair, even though they're all minted, they are a friendly inbred bunch, but they do sell veg and eggs and stuff at ridiculously low prices.

One farmer is a right wanker though, last year he had a lovely field with a family having a picnic, there was also a nice pond. He filled the pond with concrete, ploughed the family into the field, blew up the tree and used the leaves to make a dress for his wife, who is also his brother!

He’s a persona, a character isn’t he? I don’t think clarkson knows what clarkson is beyond the fact he’s playing a character.

We've just stumped up millions in pay rises to civil servants and train drivers, so in return we're gonna screw the farmers coz they're all supposedly loaded?

Nice one.

Jesus Christ lad. Calm the fck down 😂

The poster was a just a laugh in response to Spider’s comment. No need to take it so seriously & get all triggered.

It certainly wasn’t posted to defend anything Labour have done. I’ve not even posted my views on the latest move as I’m still just listening to both sides. There’s still lots I don’t understand about it. I’m in support of most policies that push farming to adopt more sustainable practices 👍

Hey, guess what? The farmers are quite happy for you and your family to pay inheritance tax so they don’t have to.

They’ll probably give you a reach around too if you tug your forelock and ask politely.

How the fuck am I ever going to have to pay inheritance tax? I came into this world as a poor kid from Johnny Fow and I'll leave a poor man from Halliwell.

Mate you're running on a motorbike filled with jealousy.

God bless the farmers 🙏

Where's your ambition man?

I came into this world a poor kid from Halliwell, I fully expect I’ll be paying inheritance tax at some point in the future.

Fuck the farmers 🖕

To quote Blackadder

I attended the university of life, the school of hard knocks and the Kindergarten of getting the shit kicked out of me.

I'll die poor but I don't begrudge those who won't and I think taxing us all our lives and even in death is a fcking joke. It's jealousy defending that shit.

You should respect the farmers more than most, chubby 🙃

I’m not defending it. I’d be quite happy, and my nipper even more so, if inheritance tax was abolished. But everybody else is subject to it, then so should the farmers.

Chubby? 6’1, 12 and half stone. I’m a whippet.

You alienate everyone you come across, including I understand, your wife. Which is why you've ended up living like a bloody tramp in a lay by.
