No idea.

Without all other team members being the same though, such analysis has its limits.

We've won every game Thomason has started for example, but that doesn't mean we'd have beaten Wednesday if he'd been playing.

If Bod is fit, he starts alongside Charles for me.

Bang on. Bod & Charles is a better duo than each of them individually. Same with Thomasson and MJ.

Partnerships forming all over is good for the team

I'm still not getting this kachunga Dion psrthership. They both do their own thing. They don't play together.

I honestly thought they had a great game and suited each other, the pair of the grafted their fingers to the bone for the squad.  katchuna is like a Diouf, he annoys the life out of opposing defenses.  It baffles me why folk don't embrace his contribution to be honest, he was fabulous today

Amazed Kakchunga is being criticised today , he like the rest of the team was a solid 7/10.

The pen was stonewall I was going mad at lines man when thought it was not given he had a perfect view. Also had to be a red as was a shirt pull.

Thomason was good but looked shot at end surprised Morley did not get last 10

Agree with Evatt that we did not make enough of some very good positions but given overall performance not a massive issue but on another day could have been

The kachunga haters wouldnt pick santos either

Clueless or looking for a bite

I'd pick JDB (if fit) above Kachunga every day of the week.  Simply a better footballer in my opinion, and that's without adding that he is more likely to score.  But its all about opinions, we don't have to agree.

And I'd pick Santos as first outfield player on team sheet.

They did both work very hard. Often doing similar things. Just don't dovetail for me though. Whether that would get better the more they played together I don't know, but I like the craft, intelligence and aerial prowess of Bod as a compliment to Charles' strengths.

I dont think anyone can criticise Kachungas workrate, and nobody does, but doesnt score goals when the opportunity arises.

Whatever 11 Evatt picks I’ll back him he gets the calls right 9 out for 10 the players who get the most minutes over the season will be the best for the team. Bod, Charles are best 2 strikers and fitness permitting will play more than Baka and Kachunga, MJ will get more game time than anyone else in our midfield and Santos same at the back. We are in good hands.

Kachunga works incredibly hard, positions himself well, closes down the space the opposition look to play in, and is clearly willing. All those things have their advantages and are no doubt why why Evatt picks him.

But he obviously lacks the natural goalscoring instincts of the likes of Charles, Dapo, Bod, even Baka. There's a reason why his goalscoring record (and also his rate of providing assists) over a long period is so poor and it won't improve, at least not dramatically or consistently. That's just where he is as a player.

Him and Charles up front can work - it seemed to today - by causing problems for the opposition backline with their relentless pressing but we probably shouldn't expect consistent goalscoring from their partnership.

As solid a 3 points you’ll see. Never really got out of 2nd gear but never had to. Exactly the types of 3 points you need if you expect to be challenging

flat crowd, controlled but pretty flat performance but grinded a win out

2nd goal just killed the game and avoided the inevitable nervy finish

Agreed.  Lincoln as bad as any team I've seen here that haven't been relegated, from their point of view not sure what's happened, they looked so attack minded and slick when we played them earlier this year.  I couldn't work out what their style of play was supposed to be, reminded me of our worst away performances a few years ago, no ambition or talent or gameplan.  Re flat crowd - isnt it wierd that "its flat" just happens from minute 1 in some games, and whatever happens in the next 90 it never shifts, flat from start to finish and a game to get 3 points from and move on.

Kachunga is absolute toilet but that penalty call was laughable. Was definitely pulled back, but that the referee (stood about 10 yards away) said no but then deferred to his linesman (about 60 yards away) was just ridiculous.

MOM was MJ for me. Triffic performance.

Agreed MJ was fantastic.  Also Thomasson for his ability to pass incisively and accurately, Lee just sublime in the first hour, and Johnstone as good a defensive performance as he's produced for us.

Under par performances from Iredale and Bradley for me, he's not been at the levels of his first few games recently, a bit wasteful and making wrong decisions.

Agree with all that apart from Lee I thought he was poor if you are playing that position he should be creating more going forward which was zero . I suppose everyone sees the game different

Watching a different game re Bradley,  always on the offensive and creating problems for Lincoln.

Johnston looked fitter and quicker to stuff today.    Never thought he was any world beater but today there was somet different

I think that’s what it was given for, which would fit with it only being a yellow as “an attempt to play the ball” (which is a crock of shit btw). Thought he went down easily from NSL but happy to reserve judgement until seeing a replay.

Just seen EFL show. Definite shirt pull. Which in turn means it definitely wasn’t an attempt to play the ball and therefore should have been a red card. I’ve been obsessed with that rule ever since our red card in the 7-1 at Accrington and it was pretty much a textbook example today.

Just realised their manager is Mark Kennedy.

Always remember his screamer at our gaff when city were shit.

Tbf they got promoted that season didn’t they? Though said goal was literally the first thing I said to my mate’s nephew when he said who their manager was. Of course he looked at me like I had two heads given he wasn’t even a twinkle in the eye, and the idea of City being a newly promoted team in the Championship just sounds ridiculous to him.

Is Kachunga doing Charles a favour by taking a lot of attention away from him having only scored 1 league goal from open play?

Our goals for is already 6 less than the nearest team in a promotion or play off place.

I'm struggling to remember when he scored from open play, then again I'm struggling to remember what I had for my tea yesterday.

Once the 3rd sub came on (Dapo), we couldn't make any more subs.  It was only 1-0 at the time and I thought it was a bit risky with 15 minutes left (incl injury time) that if we had an injury we'd be down to 10 men.

I couldn't go today and was about to ask how he got on.

I'm glad it sounds like he's continuing his good run of form, first half shot aside.

Thomason's shot at 2:15 in this lads video.

Katchungas workrate is second to none, and he's a fucking nuisance to opposition defenders. Sometimes he goes down in instalments and he's always blowing out his arse after an hour, but he had a good game today.

I was just chatting about that game a couple of days ago with a City fan.  In the May, we could have been 2 divisions apart if we'd beaten Watford and Dickov hadn't scored in injury time.  Then early the following season they were buzzing to be visiting the Reebok instead of league one grounds.  Couldn't believe we lost at home to them at the time.

We do all see the game differently.  I would have paid the admission fee just to watch Lee in the first half, outstanding for me but did drop off 2nd half although nearly scored a similar goal to the Charlton one.  To name 2 passes, the one with outside of right foot to put Bradley through (but full back got back), and the lofted one to Kachunga in inside left position.  And the ability generally to find space when there was none.  Pure quality.  But made wrong decision a couple of times and it was right to sub him.
