Not much more I can add to what's already been said.

Barnsley will (and already have - Ipswich, Wednesday) take points off sides we want to be competing with. They're a big ugly side I wouldn't want to watch every week, but they came here with a plan and executed it well.

If on the first day you'd have said 7th in mid-October, we'd have all taken it. Sure, some shit results recently but I trust Evatt to rectify it. I don't think anyone needs to panic just yet.

I think we may have taken 7th, but most would have expected more points, and definitely more goals, from 7 home games and 4 aways at teams in the current bottom 9.  A lot of fans were hoping to at least challenge the top 2, and being 13 points behind one of them after 13 games wasn't really part of the plan (and that team barely got a mention in the L1 predictions thread).

But you're right, no need to panic, 2 or 3 wins on the trot and it all changes again.

Had a chance to reflect on the match having initially been pretty peeved off..

Barnsley were a championship team last year, and panicked coming to ours, closing down the shop.

Our players are scared of shooting, it's almost as if they have been told not to.. Even in the box, they well send it out wide to Bradley to "whip in".

I know Iredale works hard, but he doesn't seem to have that creative edge we need, why has Declan John been dropped so quickly? Is he injured?

Dapo, it's just not working for him atm, massive potential too.. Think we need a midfielder who can hit the ball on at all times to give us that attacking threat.

I do feel that Charles and Kachunga is our best attacking option atm.

Not sure how you come to that conclusion. It’s all about opinions though.

I don't think JDB is anywhere near match fit, just seems very sluggish and nowhere near where he was at the end of last season. Bakayoko is a super sub.

What would we have been hoping to learn?

Itll be significantly darker next game

Id be amazed if the power requirements for the lights are even  5% of our demand on a match day

My place has just done fresh LEDs at Chester and Orient. Ill maybe see what they cost to run

CEO Neil Hart was on GMR  a couple of weeks ago and said that having  the floodlights on costs us about £500 a game, so it wouldn't be worthwhile for us to change kick off time.

JDB is looking like the player Millwall got shut of, rather than the one we signed.

Hopefully is a temporary thing.

The floodlights are powered by a bloody big diesel generator housed in the WSL near the corner of the South Stand. I doubt, even at todays diesel prices, it’s as high as £500. For a start, it’ll be red diesel so a lot cheaper than white.

Reductions in red use suggest we'd pay full price.

A bloody expensive way of powering them to start with though.

And we'd be likely to lose more than that in revenue, even if we lost only a few folk through the turnstiles due to disrupting kick-off times I reckon.

Following on from the discussion after the Barnsley game about our excellent defensive record v our poor goalscoring record these diagrams popped up on twitter earlier today - not telling us anything we dont know about BWFC but quite useful in showing  where  other teams in the division are relative to us

(1) Attacking Effectiveness - Shots taken per match v Shots taken per gal scored

(2) Defensive Effectiveness - Shots faced per game v Shots faced per goal conceded

(3) Expected Goals - xG Created per match v xG allowed per match

(4) Attack v Defence - Shots taken per match v shots faced per match

i really would love to know what that might be telling us

Look at the line dividers. The middle horizontal and vertical line is the average.

First one says we're above average (in this case it's bad), on shots taken per goal scored, because you want that number to be low as possible, because you want to score with every shot ideally. AND we're below average on shots taken per match, which is bad obviously.

Ipswich are the best in the sense that they're below average on shots taken per goal scored and also take the most shots per game.

Second one says we have a good defence because out of the whole division it takes the most shots to score against us on average (about 16, the average is 9), and we only face about 9 or 10 shots per game, whereas the average is 11

Third one is comparing how many goal scoring chances we create per game, vs how many goal scoring chances we're allowing against us per game.

So we're below average in our xG created which is bad because compared to rest of the division we're not making as many good chances per game, but we're below average in xG against us which is good as we're not allowing as many chances as other teams allow. Basically just summarises the first two pictures.

Last one, similar to the 3rd one, we take less than divisional average of shots per game, just. And face less than the average shots against us per game.

In conclusion. We good at defending, but not great (but not awful) at scoring and creating.

The third pic is probably the best one. It shows that we have the 6th best defence in the league as we have the 6th lowest xG against us per game. But we're 12th in terms of creating xG.

I much prefer it when they do those overlapping circle thingies that show it could only be Miss Scarlett, with the cricket bat, in the East Stand Lower.
