Agree with this too.

I think it was @paulhanley who used the phrase “taking the hand-brake off”  earlier which I agreed with yesterday.

We actually started off quite well yesterday, but then became a bit bland and stifled until the subs.

I think Evatt is learning and evolving and of course this is all easier said than done.

Think that had a lot to do with Burton using every trick in the book to disrupt our flow.

Sheehan was very good, by the way.

Yes, what a clever/neat footballer he is when he's on form, I'd forgotten how good he can be.  Seeing Sheehan and Morley on the pitch tonight made it a bit more obvious how average Dempsey is in possession.  Not saying he hasn't had good games but he's behind the others for me.

Definitely played a part. And if one of those chances (Dapo’s was the best I think) goes in, we are talking a completely different game.

It amazes me that people still don't understand injury time is a minimum of.

And it could quite easily have been eight or nine given the amount of time wasting that went on.

Exactly, plus during the "7 minutes" they were wasting as much time as possible, another couple of minutes would have been justified.  When they kicked off at 2-1 it was the only time they showed any urgency all night, unfortunately for them the ref only gave them 5 seconds to attempt an equaliser.

I just don't understand Dempsey.

Who decides how much time is added? If it the ref or the 4th official?

Referee.

https://footballhandbook.com/stoppage-time-football/

Once the referee decides on the appropriate time, he communicates this to the fourth official. The fourth official displays the time allowed, which is the minimum amount of minutes.

I think he will do more of the ugly stuff than Morley & Sheehan

This, 100%

Doesn't mind a scrap, and will make runs into the box too.

More dynamic perhaps than any other midfielder we've got. Box to box, with decent technique. Doesn't need to be a world beater with passing if others there to do that.

Sort of player we missed last year at times.

As a wingback, yes I agree.

I was more referring to his behaviour as outlined in the other thread.

He booted off in an unreasonable fashion- especially as IE explained he wanted to give others a bit of a game.

Unless there's some humble pie, I can't see him being here much longer.

Ive heard nothing beyond him being pissed off

Id be 'unreasonable' if id been hooked in my first game after being out

I do think the signing of the scouse kid was to provide a back up post jan

Time for Charles to be dropped to the bench really not going for him this season !

Every other forward player and attacking midfielder (Bod, Baka, Kacha, Dapo, Sadlier, Lee etc) has had plenty of time on the bench and has come on as sub and made an impact more than once.  It seems odd that Charles hasn't had that opportunity, to come on and take the opposition a bit by surprise.  I think his game, which is poor at the moment, would get a shot in the arm if he was the one trying to inject some energy, every other player has benefitted from it.

Lee's backheel effort off the post in the 93rd minute, good god that would've been fantastic.

I like all our midfield options, but I think technically our best 3 are Lee, Morley and Sheehan, could Morley not play a deeper role with his distribution instead of MJ long term?

A class act.  The first couple of times he did that sort of finish, it seemed it could have been a bit lucky that he was in the right place at the right time, but he does it so often he's obviously got a gift for it that you can't teach.  And if he isn't scoring or coming close he's also more likely than most to set up someone else.

A perfectly reasonable decision to give him a half then another a half. An opportunity to provide fitness and practice for both.

Putting a door through isn't reasonable behaviour on the other hand. Neither is causing trouble in the camp. Supposedly asked to go, but he could still remain professional in the meantime.

Last night's referee on the way to the Premier League. -  Daily Torygraph.   Good riddance.

The PGMOL wants to create a better pathway to the Premier League for its most promising officials, through its Elite Referee Development Plan, and are also providing a top-flight opportunity to Sam Allison, who will be the fourth official at Brighton versus Chelsea.

He does get into decent positions and does a lot of running, but he seemed to peak v Wycombe with his 2 excellent goals, since then I'd say along with Charles he's the most wasteful attacker we have.  Distribution, crossing and shooting are all below the level of most others.  He looks tough, but he doesn't come close to Williams for tackles and interceptions, a bit disappointing for me compared to how he was built up before we signed him.
