Agreed.

Look at Thomason - played a few games in a row and settled into it as confidence grew. But he was benched against Accrington, played against Barnsley, dropped again at the weekend. It’s like the Hokey Kokey.

As for Dempsey, Sheehan, Morley, Dapo, Lee, Sadlier etc - zero chance to get a decent run of games to be able to get into a rhythm. How do you get to know how to play effectively with your teammates’ if you have different teammates each week? Training drills at Euxton isn’t the same as 90 mins in a league game.

Absolutely

santos & johnston have a good understanding because they play regular

i do believe he thought Dapo might of gone and Thomason started playing well so that gave him an headache

the Sadlier signing was a puzzling one tbh

Evatt can put 7 on the bench but only 5 can play so it makes no sense not to have a goalie there for that one occasion in a blue moon when the goalie is injured - it's not like the others are all ninja game winners is it? That is unless we have a budding John McGinlay amongst our ranks who can step into the breach.

The starting line up and system can be shuffled until the cow's come home, but it's pretty clear to me that basic form has dropped considerably of late and that applies across the board - nobody has played well or consistently got the basics of passing, moving, positioning etc right for the full 90. Get that right and we might get somewhere.

everyone happy to trust evatt to bring players in during the jan window?

dont forget all these we want to offload are his signings.

if hes going to continue with this system, he needs players that fit it

this is deinitely his biggest window yet

for the last two, he's brought in a load of new players AND changed formation to suit

he's clearly not going to change formation

and he's going to have to trim the squad

and if he is to carry on changing formation every week, are new players coming in going to have an impact?

we need to do something anyway to make a push for the play offs and promotion

because next summer we will more than likely find ourselves without at least Trafford, Bradley, John and Dapo - our best keeper, wingbacks and attacking player

Granted I only make it to a handful of away and home games a season. I live too far away these days. So I won't know as much as those attending week in week out. Though it does seem from here that we have been pretty shite the past ten games.

I just can't get my head around Dapo only starting every now and again. He's always going to be having off games and he's no magic bullet, but he's up there with Bradley in terms of the creativity he brings. Surely he deserves time to gain sharpness and find a run of form?

No doubt at all that Evatt deserves the time to make it right this season, so the negativity is pointless, might as well back the team fully right now. That being said, I don't think anyone expected him to have no idea about the team by this stage of the season. Some of it really has been baffling. And that's the huge worry, that if it carries on, we will just drift further down the table.

But Evatt has improved things in the second half of each season so far - so if we can get more goals then we can make the playoffs. Not a bad time to put a bet on.

As above, he’s played all over the place for previous clubs and never made a position his own, nor does he have any real stand out attributes that would nudge him in any particular direction. Tbf we knew that from day one when he was described as a generic ‘forward’.

That’s not strictly true Matt. Before he was bought by Rotherham from Doncaster he had done brilliantly as an attacking midfield player and scored plenty of goals. He was never played in that position at Rotherham nor has he been here so maybe Evatt just need to give him a run in an attacking position to see how well he does? He’s given Kachunga more than enough chances but what’s he done with them?

Reckon John and Bradley will be off in Jan.

I watched Ashley Barnes turn back the years yesterday as he put in a masterful display as Burnley crushed Rovers. Unusually for Kompany, he played Barnes as an old school CF a la Kevin Davies, who critically stayed up top instead of chasing back to get the ball. Barnes gave their CBs a torrid time, fighting for everything, holding it up well, linking play and getting plenty of shots off - scored two, could have been four and made the other.

OK Burnley had some great wide men who provided excellent service, but couldn't JDB do a similar job for us? He has the presence and the ability to play that role. Regardless of who does that job, I think we need to keep a big striker up top on their CBs - if only to keep them honest and less inclined to push forward.

Of course he could Lusty, Bod is the typical centre forward that the likes of Charles could benefit from but it seems that unless you chase down defenders in a “high press” you aren’t fulfilling your role so the likes of Kachunga who does work hard get in in front of you. It makes no sense to me and nor does removing our best threat down the left with Dapo and Declan John but Evatt’s the boss and we have to accept that he should know best but his decisions recently have been more in question than normal. It could just be a number of players out of form so let’s hope it is and a win, however we get it, sparks a revival? 😉

Evatt has explained this, the reason is it is very rare keepers get injured and he’d rather have extra outfield player who can effect the game.

But also the risk of sending off (handle outside box, last man and bring someone down)

I get it when you could only name 3 subs, but he doesn’t use all his subs anyway most of the time.

so not buying his reasoning.

I agree we should half expect not to have the two loan players, but look at it from their point of view.  We are giving them guaranteed starts every single week for a good club (unlike 90% of our permanent players who are rotated).

Where are they going to get that at a higher level?  OK PNE may take Bradley but I'd be amazed if he was given a virtual guarantee of playing every week in the championship.  Same with Trafford, very much unproven at that level, is he better than what championship clubs have already?  I wouldn't be surprised if they are both back here next season.

when did we last change the keeper mid game

That's like saying why have insurance when you've not had to claim for years.

He/We've been extremely lucky since he adopted this position.  That luck will run out one day.

On the whole since IE arrived his signings have been good

Crellin, Dixon & kachunga have been the bad ones

he simply needs to get a tune of of these players which he previously has, if he can’t then that’s any other story

If you're including Dixon and Kachunga, we should give honourable mentions to Greenidge, Comley, Hickman, Mascoll, Taft and Tom White.  Thankfully they mostly didn't outstay their welcome and helped provide context for the standard of moans we have 2 years later.

Ha, I insure very little, just the important things such as car, home and pets.

I reckon 'goalkeeper insurance' is pretty important.

I don't want to "win".  I really hope we're never made to pay for what I see as a daft gamble.
